Brian Van Man in the video is a well known youtuber and was also a CRVL caravan host this past winter. In his 2017 video, he went to Slab City with 6 other RVers, and they "circled the wagons", and always left someone in camp for "security" reasons. That may be a subtle clue.



Two things you notice in the videos are wind and sand. That area, east side of the Imperial Valley is very windy, loose sand is everywhere, and easy to get stuck if you don't pay attention. Similar, lots of loose sand over by Anza Borrego.
