Wow Chico , looks like you are now the tribe toyota engine expert !

What a deal! I hope your dad's mechanic can look at it for you.

I like it when good things happened to nice people. :)

That is very cool! I don't know if I could live with the lack of power, but that's just because I tend to drag way to much junk around with me. I like the sixe and layout. If you don't like sleeping in the loft you could always turn the dinette into a permanent bed with storage underneath.

Well, of course, life doesn't sit still round me, haha.

Selling Dolphine.  The motor is running good, but the layout just will not work for me.  Just could not get comfortable in there.  And really, there wasn't much storage over the van, believe it or not.

Then, the roof leaked.   First time it rained, nada.  I thought, cool!   Second time was a real turd floater, and sure enough...   Dad got up there and found standing water where they had removed a skylight, right over the leak.  So, we sealed that up and thought it was good to go.

Still...  the layout and uncomfortable place to hang out still bothered me.

We did rip out some ugly carpet and dad laid out some linoleum they had found at a garage sale, was looking better.  Mom was making curtains and she and I were 'discussing' the fact that I didn't really look forward to the getting off the top bunk in the dark middle of the night to pee, she was all for it.  We went round and round, lol.

Wouldn't you know it, 3 days ago we got word this house mom n dad lives in is getting showed, since it's up for sale.   Great.  I have 3 vehicles at their house we had to figure out what to do with.  So, we decided to take Dolphine to the city lake with it's free hookups, that way we could check out the plumbing and stuffs.

As it happens, one of my sisters showed up, and with me, the parents and her in there, was just too much!  I'm not prone to claustrophobia, but ugh.  It's more for a one person setup, for sure.  Then, they started making so many plans and I didn't feel good about any of it, not feeling the vibe.  We did turn on the  AC and felt to be pretty cool.   As we were needing a few hardware items, we decided to leave the A/C going and ran some errands for a while.

Okay, at this point, I should mention I've been really sick as crap (the parents both had it, too, sinus stuff).  So by the time the sister finally was going to turn us loose hours later, no one felt like going back out to the lake, we decided to leave it hooked up, A/C going.

Next morning, I go out there...   *sigh*    wouldn't you know, it really wasn't that cool in there, number one.  Number two, the condensation was leaking inside the rig.   Ugh!!!     I kind of had it at this point.

Tossed and turned all night, got no sleep thinking about it.  There was no way I felt as comfortable in that thing over my van.  Comfort is important!  So, going to sell it.

We do have it running good, motor wise, and we have done things to the inside, with a few more things we want to do to spruce it up then going to put mom to selling it.  She has a way of making money on all she sells.  (how come I didn't get that gene?!!  haha  :)

I'm actually relieved to be moving stuff back into the van.  Right now I'm sleeping in theira 12' camper mom n dad has in their driveway, it has A/C.

And next up?  Dad wants to go ahead and move out of this house and back into their lake house that is about an hour from here.  Great, another move.  :)   They did say I'm, more than welcome to park there til I figure out what's next.  Only bad part of that is it's about 30 mins from small town and about 50 mins from a big one.  Still unsure of where I will be anyways, so it works out.

Hey, their good news on their moving is that their lake house is still furnished with their stuff, they won't have to move this furniture, it stays.  Coolness.  :)

Phew!!  That was long winded, sorry.  ;)

Not too long winded, good update and glad to hear you're more or less well.

Lady Theadyn
Your posts are always interesting , sorry you didn't like the rig's layout.

The AC condensation should have been dripping out on the roof , pull the shroud and check if the drain holes are clogged .

If it's really hot and humid the condenser can freeze up and it won't cool very well.
Try running it on low instead of high......

Alright.... even more changes...

About to go to bed last night when I get my sisters call, she was on her way over to pick us up cause she had just bought something....for me.

Ladies and gentleman, I now have a mobile home.

Yep. A sticks n bricks. ? Now listen why:

People were desperate, having to leave the state, kept dropping the price, finally at 9 pm last night sis wrote and said she had $1500 on her, he said he'd take it. Clean title. It's at a park that is $180 a month, he said utilities ran him about $140 a month. Fenced yard, nice porch, landscaping, and they had just painted the outside cute.

However, it needs a loooooooooot of work!! They weren't the cleanest people, had 2 dogs, a cat, and 3 little kids. And it appeared they never cleaned. The smells aren't great, lemme tell ya. Carpet really needs to come out, yuck. The husband was working on it off and on, so the kitchen floor is half replaced, no cabinet doors in kitchen, drywall still needs seems better, stuff like that.

They did leave very nice fridge, stove w double oven, and microwave that is all about 6 months old. Fridge took 2 of us an hour to clean today, btw. Shoot, just those appliances were worth $1500. It's a 3 bdrm 2 bath, small rooms but adequate. Gonna just paint everything white to make it bright and clean. Spent the afternoon cleaning and painting today, already HUGE difference.

So, anyways.... I'm thinking... was going to have to find a place to live anyways... this is paid for, cheap lot rent and utilities. I can find some kind of work, live cheaply, save up... family almost already has furniture I'd need to make it liveable..

But you all here know what I'm really thinking, right? Home Base!!

Haha, of course you guys would want pics ? I only got some of the inside, wish I had gotten some of the outside, it's much cuter lol. Will try to snap a few outsides tomorrow then load some. You guys just keep in mind... it was $1500. Sooooooo much work to do lol.

And yes, I'm keeping Van Halen. :)

Well , nobody can call your life boring , that's for sure !
If you don't keep it , should sell for a nice profit after you finish fixin' 'er up !

Still got the Toyhome ?

cant argue with a $1500 home, cant get a clean van for that, heck of deal your sister got there, many options to think about

Okay...    pic heavy!!!!

And there you have it.  ::) Sure have a lot of work cut out for us.  I'm just happy I'm getting free help on this.  It's a little overwhelming.  Didn't really get good pics of how much gardening there will be needed, and here I am with a black thumb, wish me luck! haha.

Think once the carpets are replaced (a sis is going to put it on her account and let me pay her once I'm working) and the walls painted, the smells will be gone.  They better, anyways.

Am selling the Toyohome, yep.  Don't need 3 vehicles haha.  Besides, I really only have room for 2 vehicles.

These are the before pics, will update later as they come.  The spare room will be open for those traveling through.  :D

nice Theadyn, it doesn't look half bad. certainly in better shape then the apartment I am currently working on. best to you. highdesertranger

Looks like it's worth way more than the money, congratulations. My encouragement all around to make it what you want it to be.

WOW , You sure got a great deal on that STOVE !
And the rest was FREE !

The place looks pretty decent actually .
I've seen (and remodeled) much worse back when I worked for a contractor friend that liked to flip real estate when we didn't have a new build going on.

Big plus having your own crew to help too!!!

Use carpet padding with plastic coating to help big time with the stinky floors ,, the foam pad if you use click wood , and vinyl works great for sealing floors too.

(If you need to build doors for those cabinets look at Falcon's build thread.)
