I bought a 1990 Ford E250 4X4 high top van with 61,000 miles about a year ago. I also bought a Suzuki Samurai to tow behind it. It all sounds so good but I have to work a few more years to pay it all off and to afford the build. I guess it’s worth it to me for years of freedom in the future.

I really wanted either an Airstream B190 or a Lazy Daze 22’ or 26’ w/rear bed. It helped to filter results. Otherwise, I was chasing after too many RVs, plus I needed to research them all.

Narrowing down to a few, I knew better what to look for. I also joined the B190 Enthusiasts forum. Lots of listings and discussions of repairs and upgrades.

I looked and looked, thinking I’d get a Lazy Daze for around $3-4k. By the time I had the money, the only ones available were 2-3x more, even though it was fall. Finally found a B190 on the forum. They usually go for $15-20k and even more since I live in CA. Mine was $6500 and an hour away.

Now, I wanted something built. I had a series of injuries, no one to help, and no tools for a build. It sounds like you have time and the ability/tools for a build. I saw tons of vans here for $1000-2000 when I was looking.

Fleet vehicles are also a good option: state, county, city, School districts, large companies, handymen and trades. Most seem to be white.

Good luck in your search!
