Am I remembering correct that there is a tarp put out for people to put things to be given away?

The reason I ask is I will end up with a lot of stuff that I won't be taking on and hate to see it go to waste. Yesterday I took the two never used, still wrapped in plastic mattresses off of the bunks. I was shocked at how much nicer they were than the main mattress. I also have a 15 inch flat screen TV/DVD player that runs off of 12v or 120v and pulls 65w.

There is more but I wanted to make sure before I started making that pile.

Yes... The tarp is currently located in Key West, plz PM for directions...

Just curious (sorry for the aside, Jim), is there any barter going on at RTR?

Hopefully, all the stuff that gets put on the tarp is of interest to mobile dwellers and in useable condition. Bob ends up hauling anything left over to the thrift stores or the dump.

Anything I put out will not be junk and I will take it with me when I go. I don't believe in burdening others. Also someone has called dibs on the TV, well actually they offered to buy it. I'm not interested in selling any of it, I just hope it helps those here that have helped me.

Oh! Jeez, Jim! I certainly was referring to you or anyone in particular. I was just sharing general information. Sorry!!! Your stuff sounded great!

Is Cindy being a big meany again?   :p

Seriously, the tarp is the place to exchange things you don't need for things others don't need.

Whatever, it works.

There are a lot of happy stories of treasures found.

:)  Besides going thru a major down size before RTR.   I  know that the auction family I do business with does not take clothing so I will have a lot of clothing men, women, and children and all sizes  I was thinking about bringing some fall & winter items.  As I'm 5ft 5in and "Lane Bryant" fluffy size wise, there will be 'Queen size clothes included, jeans for all sizes, and jackets and sweaters if things work out.

I'm a good shopper...yesterday I bought a like new London Fog jacket for a $1 for one family member and $48 with tag still on Alfred Dunner pants for $1 for another family member.  Then I went Hog Wild and paid $5 for a 30ys old  Vintage flowing dress for myself   :D  I will also bring books.

I'm wondering if we could/should start a thread on things that have been useful in the past and maybe things we'd like to see "tarped" for '17 RTR?

Myself included lottsa newbies may be there and would like to participate by bringing things but unsure of what to bring.   I'm thinking just about any useful item?

Most of the things put out on the tarp are all items that each of us packed thinking we'd need them and then discover that we didn't.

If you're packing for the road for the first time don't worry about bringing things specifically for on the tarp....get all the stuff you think you'll find necessary packed first! Then, if there's any little nooks and crannies left over that aren't filled, THEN you can think about bringing things specifically for on the tarp.

The only couple who brought things specifically for on the tarp had a hugeass Class A with a full basement.... :D

Me and Queenie got a good thing going [hopefully]

Extended cab Ranger 4x4       Roof Rack    Bed Cap  if no rack/cap then it's totes/tarps  & my family doesn't call me the "Bungee Queen" for no reason   :D

Also Aliner first time drag along and I'll pack lite so room for xtras.

I am doing a major down sizing and would just as soon "bring with" and pass along to tribe members as donate back to store I bought so much from in the first place.

If there are others with room going my way maybe U have some space to spare.  I'll be going from FT Rucker AL to Temple TX and then westward ho from there.  Leaving date TBA

If you want to use my generator let me know a couple of days in advance,, it is at a friends house. It's heavy, it's a 3000ESI and weighs in at about 150 with the wheel kit on it. I don't have the 30 amp cord you will need, my daughter stole it. I will sell it or just let you use it, matters not but If I leave early I would need to to bring it back when you were done with it.

I've hauled a few things around to put on free pile rather than trash or donate to a thrift store. Some were unclaimed "lost+found" items from campgrounds I hosted. I've also found some good stuff there.

I'm a Ranger ext cab with cap (old and doesn't lock but still keeps the stuff dry) and hopefully a Runaway Camper, TxJaybird I looked at an Aliner but they were just too expensive and didn't seem all that much better than the Runaway except, of course, for standing height
Hopefully I'm OK with the restriction of a Runaway

Art W.  I went with Aliner because I need the height as bum back tends to lock up with to much stooping and 2 knees that will dislocate at will so I couldn't be crawling around to get in and out of a smaller trailer.

I'd like to have a topper before RTR however I can haul a lot more without one  :D that way I can pack all I need for myself and Queenie and plenty for the "free tarp" then if xtras get donated I'm good with that too.

I lucked out on the Aliner & I had a big Viking Pop-up to trade that reduced the price of the Aliner by 1/3  :D
of course I'm more in debt now however I think it was worth it as I can live in Aliner full time when I need/want to.

It would be nice if there was a way to ensure that the most needy person had an opportunity to claim an item before others had a shot at it. if I were to donate a high dollar item, I would prefer that it went to someone on a limited income who could not afford that item, rather than someone camped close to the tarp who was scarfing up all the good stuff.
