Tethering

Is anyone here "tethering" a laptop to a Verizon mobile phone. Would rather have a laptop than Ipad. We would like&nbsp;to be able to get Netflix and internet TV on a mobile phone network, as well as wifi.&nbsp;Plusses, minuses, cost?<br>Thanks in advance!<br>jbnH&nbsp;<br>

I tether my Dell inspiron 1521 to my Straight Talk Nokia E71 phone that I purchased from WalMart, the service is unlimited everything for $48.47 a month and that is including TAX.<div>The tether works fine anywhere I have service, the Nokia E71 uses AT&amp;T towers and is 3G so I have service most places. BUT as I have found out most cellphone (I used to use my iPhone to tether) tethers are slow, almost like dial up, so don't expect to watch net flix...<img src="/images/boards/smilies/smile.gif" border="0" align="absmiddle"><img src="/images/boards/smilies/smile.gif" border="0" align="absmiddle"></div><div>for the detractors on here, no there is no limit on how much data I can use and no over charges, like most cell carriers charge.</div>

jb., I use PDA.net to tether my laptop, and haven't had any problems for 2 years. 3G is fast enough for me. You can go to the Junefabrics.com website and download. The only data that seems to show up on the Verizon counter is when I download a video. Otherwise, I am always under my limit (5 gigs). I opted to pay the 20 dollars for the full version of PDA so I can get on secure web sites. If you just use the free version, it will not let you get on to secure sites.
