Switching phone networks

Have an unlocked 4 network Moto G Play (4th gen). It is currently on the ATT network (Red Pocket) and when it expires want to put on another Red Pocket Plan But the Verizon network. 

Has anyone done such a thing and are there any special steps?

Planning to offer phone to a friend currently using a Trac flip phone. they are tired of texting on a flip and need Verizon in their area

Checked to see if Red Pocket has a Chat and like the rest of the world they do.

Did a quick chat, they had me send the IMEI and they confirmed the phone will work on Verizon. When want to switch will just swap to the Red Pocket Verizon SIM and go from there.
