Super TinY Awesome Ice Chest ish

was searching online for Vacuum Insulated Ice Chest and found nothing -

minutes later went into Wally and found a Tiny vacuum insulated cooler 
that is pretty Nice - Top opening is Wide -
Lid looks well made and has 4 nice latches and
first time Ive seen a vacuum insulated container 
that is square ish and not cylinder - 

If this was 10 times  bigger it would make a Super Awesome Ice chest -


Container seems to be well made from stainless steel and insulating performance seems quite good -
placed 4 small ice cubes in tiny container and 4 hours later in a 100 degree van
the ice cubes had hardly melted ish  -

the 4 latches took a few minutes to figure out how to work smoothly-
trick is just slight push on thinnest part of latch - and it easily snaps shut - Very Clever -
and works Very Good once you use this easy trick -

Lid seal has 3 tiny ridges on a smooth flat surface that circles the lid--
seems to seal tight but need to test more to make sure it seals properly every time -

Label says it hold 33 ounces  - looks smaller than that -- will have to measure -

Price was $13 at wallmart -

this vacuum insulated container can be used in many ways -
like storing temperature sensitive materials inside - film - medicine -  etc

store hot / cold food - what its designed for -
awesome ice bucket -
many more  uses -

Hopefully soon much Larger vacuum insulated containers will become available
and Super Efficient Ice chests and fridges will become available using this technology -

after further testing container seems to seal real well and is water tight - so far

Looks great for taking a hot meal somewhere.

Most indoor workplaces have microwaves these days , but usually only one no matter how many employees there are. I've had to wait half an hour to heat up my lunch, giving me a lot less time to eat it. Something like this would be a good way to make sure you have your meal ready instead of just hoping you'll have a lucky spot in the microwave line.

I filled with ice and it lasted 24 hours -
water was still very cold -
seemed like vacuum insulation worked well -

looked last night at walmart and box was sold out -

That LLB unit is just for keeping food hot for a few hours, doubtful much performance as a cooler.

The standard at the high end is keeping (at least some) ice for 4+ days, I believe Yeti gets a bit more, depends on temps of course.

Cryogel Z and Aerogel are great R-value, and I believe a lot less expensive than vacuum plate.

purchased and Im  testing this Stanley 3 quart Vacuum Insulated pot -

First impression is that  it looks well made -
Container/ Lid/ Latches / Handle all look to be well made and sturdy
Looks Nice - 

made from smooth well formed double walled stainless steel and 
nice thick plastic -
no metal seems or welds are visible -Nice 
should be easy to clean - 

The lid is water tight and and is held on by 4 latches -
latches are plastic and nicely made with metal pivot pins -
closing Only 2 latches holds lid on firmly and water tight -

latches are a tiny bit tighter than nessarry -
but not overly hard to open or close -

the lid seals with a large soft white plastic gasket that is removable
so cleaning should be easy - Nice -
Lid has a built in plastic hook that attaches lid to pot when open -Nice

Lid has a pressure release vent hole  -

handle is attached to the lid and its large and comfortable and
looks plenty strong -

This pot is made for keeping Hot food Hot but
i am using this as a Ice Bucket and Ice has lasted a day and a half so far-
Very little Cold can be felt on outer metal surface or lid -

I got this for Ice bucket because its easy to pour in ice with the wide 
opening at the lid-

this container should work Good for thermos style cooking 
But can Not be used as a pot for cooking on a stove -

I want to say that again - 
this pot will NOT work as a pan heated on a stove or microwave - 
No stove top cooking using this pot - 

I found this while looking for a Vacuum Insulated Ice chest-
that are not available yet but hopefully soon -

Stanley is getting into Vacuum insulated containers in a big way
and are now offering a growing number of these vacuum insulated containers-
they are taking on Yetti in this area and one of these companies will be the first
to offer the Vacuum insulated Ice chest I am looking for - Hopefully soon -

I purchased this from walmart ONLINE and picked up at the store-
amazon also has this for the same price - $41
LL Bean is selling for $65 - ouch 

I will use this for a while and report back on how I like it
after a month os so -

Ice after 24 hours in van - some of ice had melted

I'm going to check it out, as it will fit under my seat, the perfect size. Having a cooler would make things easier.
