Hi everyone, My name is Tara, I'm deaf (Use American Sign Language) and am going to start living in my toyota sienna full time by the end of the month (or maybe sooner). I live in California, I'm not a huge fan of driving, so my plan is to very slowly head north, and see my sister, and some friends around Portland and Seattle, and then before the winter gets bad, head south thru cali to Arizona, spend the winter throughout the south (slowly making my way across the country) and then head north for the Spring/summer of next year be up in the NY area and see my Twin sister. I have 4 kids, who will be staying here with their other mom, I'll have to figure out a way to see them all the time, either driving back thru, or flying/bussing/training out regularly, as they are super important in my life (I will continue to support them, and can't afford to get my own place too).

Once I get settled a little better in my new life on the road, I hope to bring the kids along for some trips. We shall see how I get settled first, before exploring that possibility.

Anyways, I just wanted to say hello, I've noticed I won't be the only single female out here doing this, and that's really great to see!

No I did not notice that. a link would be great, I'll do some looking as well maybe I can find it.. The kids are age 15 thru age 6. 3 girls and a boy.

Everyone else, thanks for the welcome! Looks like a person I used to work with is retiring the 21st of this month, in the bay area, so I think I'm going to try and get started in time to meet up with his going away party.

Welcome to the family. Enjoy your travels. Perhaps we will cross paths sometime. I'm in washington state hoping to head south soon. Sid.

I've never been out to Shaver Lake, it's 6hrs drive from where I am, which means it would probably take me a week or so to get that far at least I don't like to drive more than an hour or two a day if I can help it.

Guess its going to be a long adventure then

I'm just glad I don't have to be in a hurry! Being in a hurry is AWFUL!

Good luck. Keep both eyes open at all times..Doors locked, etc.

Well, some things changed. So the end of the month I'm homeless without a van. I'm searching for a van now, hopefully I can find one before the end of the month I have a little cash (enough for an old clunker van), so it should be doable! Also, told the kids I'm moving out today, hardest thing I've ever had to do. At least I have a job (one that can travel with me, YAY!), so it's not as bad as when I was homeless 15 years ago! Plus I have hopes that this will be a nice way to live this time around. last time it was me on the sand in 115 degree summers, not something I'd ever recommend! Plus I have some emotional support this time around!
