Put mine in savings for now, until the next long trip.

Savings. Maybe by the time I've saved up enough money there will be a good hybrid van available.

Better hurry, I'm going to be 65 this year.

It's going into the bank to spend like a drunken sailor (like Lee Marvin in "Donovan's Reef") at Suzi Wong's ( and Arnold's) in HNL when I go again in Aug!!! Yay! the bars are open again back home! (mebbe have nuff left for coupla da kine Spam musubi at 7/11 when pau for tipsy kau kau).

Cheers! (Hic)...

Hmmm washer & dryer is tempting, but I need to restock my food.

Seems like food costs have increased by at least $25 per week, altho I am also eating healthier to try to fix my bod. Also I avoid the store until I am out of everything, not just the fresh stuff.

The other need is to save up for annual rent payment on my space here, last year was $4500. That way I know the rent is paid for the next year, I get a discount, and it reduces my money anxiety a bit.

In a dream world, I would also be getting a roof rack for the van, cheapest one about $600 with shipping.

pay bills, new pair of birding binos, new glasses and whats left in savings. that's if i get
it as the last one never came so i had to put it toward the taxes we owe...

I am putting it towards a paint job on the van (as far as it goes). I won't have to cough up as much on my own.

I was planning to put away 1000 in the emergency fund and spend the rest on some current needs in the van. So I’m looking every day when are they going to put this in my account. And it doesn’t come so I get on their website and it says there’s a problem and I’m not getting it until that problem is solved. So then I try to phone them. I’ve been doing it three or four times a day for four days and of course no one ever answers it just says we are experiencing a heavy load of calls. Oh crap. Don’t count your chickens before they’re hatched it.

NL,

do they have your bank routing and account info? did you file a tax return last year? During the first check they sent out last year, unless you received a direct deposit refund, they did NOT have your banking information although you may have made payments through their site - didn't matter and you had to enter it all through the site. When you did you got a message that confirmed all was OK and then I got it per the schedule they sent. That's what held up my first one.

Good Luck!

What I *should* do with the stimulus money is buy gold/silver for the day in the near future when all of this free money catches up to us as a nation.

R P Highway - I sincerely hope that money will have good returns for you.

JDub - my monthly Social Security check is deposited directly in my account same as the first two stimulus checks were without a problem. I don’t know what caused this problem. I was really counting on it that’s why I didn’t come.

definitely right on the chickens advice NL!  if it says "status not available" thats what i've been seeing for 4 months now...i was
hoping uncle joe's administration had it more together but might be wrong. anyhoo, it's still very early so i won't panic until about
two weeks from now...good luck ;)

I got the first one in the mail but never the second one. Trying to go on line or call the IRS can be frustrating at best and got me nowhere. I just want to know if they even sent one out as it could have been taken from my mailbox. Couldn’t find out anything.

Have a tax gal in KY that filled out a form for me and sent it in. She said that should do it.

I really don’t know what the form was but I can ask on Monday

You made me go look at my bank account. I got mine yesterday, direct deposit. No waiting on snail mail, trip to the mailbox and then the bank for me, already there.

First and second checks went in where my social security goes. The 3rd one nothing yet. The IRS has said that SSI & SSDI deposit dates will be announced in the next few weeks as of the 12th. I see on my news feed today that Wednesday more deposits are coming. Hopefully I'm one of them. I have $4 until next month and a dead battery.

My nephew pulled my alternator and took it to autozone to test it. It's fine. The instrumentation panel going whacko has to be due to the battery. The alternator pigtail was loose and not clipped in with the retainer clip so maybe a combo. But the battery definitely needs replacement. I think it has a dead cell. It's clearly boiled over with electrolyte as evidenced by the top of the battery.

I got the first stimulus check by direct deposit. I do pay taxes every year. The second stimulus came long after others got theirs and it was a mailed gift-card for 600. I have no idea why I got a card rather than a direct deposit. It seems strange to me when they had my bank information as I file my taxes online. This time I haven't received anything yet.

I also got the card second time, and the full $600 was not on it. I think it paid out $400 plus. Hoping for a check or direct deposit this time.
