This poll is about the covid-19 economic stimulus check also called corona virus relief check...and maybe a few other names, refund, etc...not unemployment payments...which is something different.

Savin it for a rainey day.  My expenses did not change due to boondocking parking available for me. Altho I think groceries have gone up, my gas expense has gone to zero due to stay home orders.  -crofter

Spend it on medical bills, but probably should donate it to someone who supports health care for all.

4 new tires for the van and the rest in the emergency fund. That is if I get one, that is still a question as I make so little in Social Security that I don't file tax returns, so I'll wait for a surprise. How do you keep an old fart vandweller in suspense? I'll tell you next week.

I will use part of it to pay my self employment tax for 2019. That alone will be a big help.
My vehicle is coming up on the time it will need new brakes so that will eat up quite a chunk of it
When a new frame and axle were put on my travel trailer I got an axle with electric brakes so my vehicle needs a brake control unit.

Between those 3 items it will be all gone. But it will be a huge help because I was going to raise those funds by selling items I don't need on craigslist. But now is not the time for that kind of interaction with the public.

If you would rather remain in suspense of course you can do so. Or you could do an e-file, in only a few minutes of time. You don't have to send in any documents. That makes it easy to get as a direct deposit to your bank account which as a Nomad makes a whole lot of sense for reasons of security.

I need a couple of tires and there's a strange sound in the engine compartment I need checked out. If it's nothing serious, then I'll put the money aside for emergencies.

From the AARP website:

"If you are receiving Social Security benefits but didn’t file taxes in 2018 or 2019, you will be eligible to receive a stimulus check without a tax return based on data available to the IRS from your annual Social Security benefits statement. The government will send you a direct deposit or check using the information from your Form SSA-1099 Social Security Benefit Statement or your Form RRB-1099 Social Security Equivalent Benefit Statement. You will not have to file a 2019 tax return to get a stimulus check."

Here's a link to that page on their site:

I'm surviving mostly on Social Security retirement income also, so I looked into it.

That said, I checked the "saving for a rainy day" box in the survey. No one knows what's coming next so it will be less to worry about just knowing it's there

Thanks for that, Bob. Yesterday I was trying to e-file my 2019 taxes so I could be included in this. (Hey, what happened to the 1040-EZ form option?) I make so little money I haven't needed to file the past five years. (State taxes were not an issue either.) I ran into a roadblock in e-filing. They wanted my e-filing PIN from 2018. Well, I don't have one. Calling the IRS was on my list of things to do today, but now it looks like I don't need to.

I will probably keep it in case I need medical care outside the VA health care system. ( preferred care to me)

I checked "vehicle/equipment upgrade" . . . thinking I could buy what I need to make my van build better - or maybe I'll buy something for the mobile home - I don't know, really. I still have to travel to North Idaho again later this year. I was planning to go in April but it looks like there will be a delay.

Wonder if the "check" will come before the lockdown is lifted. Is that department considered "essential"?

As far as I know, yes. I'm not 100% sure about federal, but at the state level tax collection (and refunds) is considered essential and those departments are still working.
