Came across this article with pics of different bed options.

Also read somewhere someone who took the plastic multi piece shelf racks that are cheap at Walmart/HD and laid them out single side by side. Each shelf is about 18*36, placed 2*2 gives a 3'x6' bed platform, with over 12" space underneath for storage, rated at over 250lbs and requires no fabrication skills! Simply hold together with tie wraps, wire or rope. Thought it very ingenious, and economical at only $19.95 at Wally. Great option for those who come in efficient package size. ;)

Note-  a sticky/section on beds would be a great thing.

A thin piece of plywood over storage boxes also works.

I can't find it now, but I did see a video where a guy made 4 U shaped holders and screwed them into his walls. He then made an old military style stretcher/ cot that would drop into the U shaped holders. When the bed was not needed he just pulled it out of the front holders and put that rod into the rear holder, (which was made tall enough to hold two sets of rods). The cloth from the stretcher would lay flat against the wall.

Short people have the advantage of being able to fit in a sideways bed.

Saw that video as well with the pullout out style fabric cot from the back wall. Ingenious, but those retaining/support clips he made out of wood had better be strong to support the weight.

For reference, after I removed the cargo-lashing boards in my GMC Savanna van, it measures about 76" across a foot above the floor. Need to forego installation of paneling.

Some great ideas here, really gets the mind a wandering. Prefer the Murphy Bed approach with day use storage attached.
