Hello everyone.<br><br>I installed a solar spot light in the van. The solar panel is separated from the light. I'd like to leave the plugged panel&nbsp;on the dashboard&nbsp;permanently. <br><br><img class="bbc_img" style="left: 78px; top: 16px; width: 640px; height: 480px; -ms-interpolation-mode: bicubic;" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-...AAAAAEzFo/sbonM1S0jqU/s640/100_5085.JPG?gl=US" rel="lightbox"><br><br><br>I ran the wire to the back. My intention is&nbsp;to install an on/off switch on the back close to the light.<br><br><br><img class="bbc_img" style="left: 78px; top: 16px; width: 640px; height: 480px; -ms-interpolation-mode: bicubic;" src="https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-...AAAAAEzFg/sDMNqiBv65o/s640/100_5084.JPG?gl=US" rel="lightbox"><br>It has 2 lithium batteries. Will this set up damage or shorten the life of&nbsp;the batteries? I might not use the light for days. Are lithium batteries the kind that need to be discarded completely regularly?<br><br>Thank you in advance.<br><br>Cheers <br><br>Nicole

From what I understand lithium batteries have a long life. I'm not a techie, but I don't see why a switch would shorten their life, especially when not used much.

Lithium batteries dislike being fully dischared or overcharged.&nbsp; There should be a controler preventing both situations.&nbsp; For longest life, store at 80% charge when they will be unused for a while.
