Solar Power Appalachian Guttersnipe Style

I have finally decided on my solar “system” for my upcoming 100 day Florida winter snowbird expedition.

My power needs have decreased from last year since I no longer need to power my netbook computer (1.2 amps 12v) for about 6 hours per day to make a living playing online poker.

The seven year old starting battery in my truck decided not to start the engine after sitting for a month so I bought a new starting battery and plan to use the old one until I kill it odd completely and use it as a core for a new Wal-Mart 12v marine/deep cycle.

With my power needs limited to less than an hour of net book usage per day, charging smart phones and bluetooth devices, charging 2-AA batteries via a 5v USB charger, and running a 5V OZ cool portable fan during the overnight hours I have decided to buy a 40 watt portable solar panel setup with 3 amp controller.

The following are some of the parts I use for this system from Amazon and please feel free to use Mr. Wells’s referrer if you intend to make a purchase.

Looks like a great way to get your feet wet in solar. I look forward to a full review. :)
