not knocking anybody but with the price of solar panals coming down why would any one want to not only listen to a gen but feed it at todays fuel prices.a system could be built today for almost less then the cost of a honda 2000.heres a good place with excellent prices.SUN Solar Panel 205 Watts 27.90 Vmp [SV-T-205 HV] - $274.70 :

Yeah I don't really understand a generator appeal myself. Paying $1,100 for one because it runs at 54db instead of $400 for the 66db unit seems ironic when you can pay $900 for 0db and zero gasoline.

I imagine the appeal of a genset is air conditioning. If you live in Texas (like me) or somewhere similar. With temperatures that soar well into the triple digit and not much better at night. Air is almost a must during that time. It is great if you can travel with the weather but some can't for what ever reason.

Ice-maiden hit the nail on the head. The heat and humidity in the deep south makes air conditioning a necessity. Solar panels just won't cut it.

thats the idea of living mobil-I live in Tx. and seldom use ac although I have it.during summer mos ya go over to N.Mex to the mountians and enjoy the days in the low 80s and nites in the 50s.or go sit in a core of engineers park for a few days at $8.00 a nite with free elec water showers
