I just made a new post because as has been stated this charge controller stuff has (possibly...) gone beyond basic
and I wanted the info to be more available for the next person trying to figure this out. I listed the two different strategies and the reasoning behind them, feel free to comment as you feel necessary

Also I think I will take your advice on the 4s2p configuration for the cells and switching to 12v. Though I was thinking of maybe going to a 16 cell 100Ah setup as the pricing was a bit better... Choices, choices.

I would not go to four parallel just to save a little money.

Rule of thumb is usually 3 max, less is better.

Note for redundancy purposes another option is a standby/reserve lead bank, can be used as a starter but never drawn down in normal use.
