That was an interesting article. Well, heck, why not just buy a Tuff Shed and plant it on the ground somewhere?
http://www.tuffshed.com/products_prices.cfm?ModelID=WKR&TabID=Prices

Designed with the weekend recreationalist in mind, the Premier PRO Weekender Ranch is surprisingly affordable and can be finished on the interior by the customer to create a more liveable space. I've always admired people who can live in such a small home. Where is it written that a home has to be the size of a "normal" house? Living is a small house does have quite a few benefits. The least of which is that it is very inexpensive to heat & cool.

I saw a computer generated house generated by someone that was 8x8 feet. I'm not kidding. This little house is a very functional little house that is 64 square feet. It's totally functional and has a loft for the sleeping area. I can see how someone could live in this, but 8x8 feet is a bit extreme. But if that's what make you happy for a home, more power to you.

The added benefit is that the home costs (less appliances) costs around $1,000 to build or you could buy a home depot shed for $1,500 and have it delivered to your land. Not bad if this is something you can become used to as a home.

It makes you wonder!

Back in the day a typical cabin was about 10' x 20'... The Japanese are doing this right now on very small expensive lots, and building up in very ingenious and creative ways... Just have to love stairs I guess... The hardest part would be to use every bit of storage ya can in the nooks and crannies, also having a mind to make everything multitask...
