dragonflyinthesky - About how long does it take to get better?

It will also depend a lot on your state of bone health.

I take a whole lot longer to heal now than when I was, say 12.

True story....

My mom and dad bought a used piece of crap Winnebago... horribly ugly!! it hauled 9 of us from south Texas to California and back... they bought it for the trip. Sold it later. We got back with $2 in their pocket. Mom and dad, us 4 daughters, my aunt who was 8 months preggo, uncle and tiny neice...

Only later, years later, did I find out from dad that he didn't know if it would make it across town. No tags, no insurance, and no clue about if it would make it. They just loaded up and took off.

That was one of those time you just took a chance.

They gave me percocet and it is helping some. I was on loritab and it wasn't cutting it.
I broke my collar bone real badly about 10 years ago, had it operated on and screwed back together. They gave me percocet, and I went jogging. I ripped the screws out of the bone, and had to get it operated on again. The second time I didn't take any pain medication, and it healed just fine. It's my opinion that pain medication makes it take longer to heal. The reason you have pain is because your body is trying to tell you what not to do. But, I'm just a dumb hillbilly, and that's just my opinion.

Theadyn - In my younger days I would have just gone and not thought twice. I may have done it this time too, but I see more than one sign telling me not to, so if I feel better and the car is fixed I will go. If not, I will get a late start and hopefully meet people along the way on my journey.

Bruce - I tend to agree, the pain meds make you feel better then you do too much, but there are times when the pain is too much and I have to do something. Sort of like damned if you do or if you don't.
