I never fell in love. Stepped in it a few times though.

:)

Well, it's your thread, though threads wander naturally and organically of their own accord and it rarely profits to tamp them down or take a tone.

It's a fine line at times between organic flow and thread creep, becoming totally off topic. Subject to interpretation but when the original subject topic becomes lost and pointless, thread loses relevance, interest and participation.

No offense intended. And it is so easy to start a parallel/tangent or more specific thread.
And I encourage everyone to do so.

Seriously, so you want to be in love again, has what to do with society and family? Does either cause, limit or destroy an individuals emotional capacity and desire? through the evolution of Western society?

Hope that anyone who has thoughts on their desire, or experience, to be in love again will gladly share.

The decay/ evolution of Western society and priority of other factors influencing/replacing love is another topic or thread.

Love and family is another, important thread topic too. I'd be happy to discuss those in their own thread with everyone, if I had anything of interest/ value to add.

Btw, out of curiosity, John are you single? Currently in love? If not, do you want to be? Why or why not?
Ding, same questions for you. All your single admirers want to know.. ;)
Of course, if you both wish to answer.
Anyone else?

I can say for myself that I would LOVE to find that special person to cherish. My fantasy is to sit on a porch swing together/ quiet Vista, relaxing and just chatting, sharing thoughts, watching a beautiful sunset, being emotionally close.
And society or family or whatever would not be an impediment or excuse. Never was. It wouldn't matter in the slightest to me.

Sunsets like these, my actual pics btw taken while wandering on my travels.

And yes, I did actually find a message in a bottle, with $5 in it, on a beach stroll, in Washington, at sunset.

I'm single, been single since 2005. At this point I don't even know whether I could adjust to having another human in my life. Just me and my Wolfess (she's actually a Doggess, but she looks very wolfy). I do know the intense longing....I seem to have gone past it.

An important issue, as we age, we
become much more set in our ways and less tolerant outside of our habits and preferences.
I've always said flex and adapt are the most critical aspects for success in life and love. And not just by one. Lol.
However, doesnt preclude anything necessarily, just another life challenge.
Accept, adapt or avoid? Seek and ye shall find I say.
Take the path of least resistance or do the advantages outweigh the negatives?
Depends on each individuals specifics and tolerances.

Relationships are not one size fits all, do not need to conform to the templates mainstream society expects as norms.

As long as you are willing to abide others' snarking, looking at you sideways.

There are people out there who are happy to adapt themselves and their lives to suit the dictates of the dominant partner.

And I do mean happy, not reluctantly.

In Love, as in many things...
We must free ourselves from ideas & opinions,
that try to shackle our hearts & mind.

Follow the beat of your own drum...where ever it may lead you

Love, love, love.
Seriously, so you want to be in love again...?

The simple answer is yes.

My thoughts on love, it's a wonderful feeling. It brings beauty to the surface and could show you the ugliest parts of humanity. It can make you sick and heal you. It may steal your faith, somehow it will return.

Love is endless, our hearts recover, slightly scarred or wounded, but love will prevail. It's one of our strongest emotions.

Live in the moment.

Peace.

A short time ago, I was in love. Then he broke my heart in a cruel way, as a lover and friend. I felt myself erecting a wall around my heart. I never want to feel that kind of pain again. But while it was good, it was so wonderful. Being in love, loving him, feeling loved by him. It's worth the risk of heartbreak just to feel the good stuff again. I'm open to finding someone but am content with me until I do.

Good discussion everyone.

I am never as unhappy as when I'm in love or have hope.

Nor as happy either, but that's another story and well-enough broadcast by all and sundry whether they're happy or have any hope of happiness or love or not. So call me the devil's advocate, the acid in the unctuousness that might cut through the fat and make a rich dish palatable.

I think I'm getting a little worn out.

These days, perhaps partly because of difficult parental relations and living in a community of the elderly who all need care and some of whom are on the brink of needing much, much more care, and who are losing their ability to relate rationally with their lives or other people, and meanwhile being a guardian/conservator myself, I find myself taking on new people as an unpaid chore. I like being a good person to family, friends, and clients, but it can be emotionally exhausting and after a while it can feel like you're doing nothing else and there's nothing of life left for YOU.

And there's nothing more emotionally exhausting than love.

I think I am searching for peace more than love, and the chance to walk out a door or have a quiet dinner alone -- or at least with someone my own age? -- without feeling that I just might have let someone down by not doing just a little more.

So no, I am not looking for love. I am looking for peace first, contentment second, love a very distant third, should it come around at all. In the Maslow pyramid, I have other fish to fry.

Sounds like you have caregiver burnout. Understandable why finding love is too much to put on your plate right now. I hope you find that peace.

Better to have loved and lost,
Than to never have loved.

But if not in the cards for today, live/love every aspect of today. Live in the moment.

A ray of sunshine, a gentle breeze, the smell and sound of the forest, Nature, a special homemade meal or treat, a walk after a summer rain, the momentary flight of a butterflies fancy, sharing a smile with a stranger, listening to your favorite music, a plan to look forward to, a favorite guilty pleasure, reawaken you senses to everything around you, move forward towards whatever rocks your world.

We may never pass this way again, music video

Stevie Wonder's "As"

If you don't want to read it all, as you should, then at least soak up that last bit, below

________
As around the sun the earth knows she's revolving
And the rosebuds know to bloom in early may
Just as hate knows love's the cure
You can rest your mind assure
That I'll be loving you always
As now can't reveal the mystery of tomorrow
But in passing will grow older every day
Just as all that's born is new
You know what I say is true
That I'll be loving you always
Always
(Until the ocean covers every mountain high)
Always
(Until the dolphin flies and parrots live at sea)
Always
(Until we dream of life and life becomes a dream)
Did you know that true love asks for nothing
No no her acceptance is the way we pay
Did you know that life has given love a guarantee
To last through forever and another day
Just as time knew to move on since the beginning
And the seasons know exactly when to change
Just as kindness knows no shame
Know through all your joy and pain
That I'll be loving you always
As today I know I'm living
But tomorrow could make me the past
But that I mustn't fear
For I'll know deep in my mind
The love of me I've left behind
'Cause I'll be loving you always
Always
(Until the trees and seas just up and fly away)
Always
(Until the day that eight times eight times eight is four)
Always
(Until the day that is the day that are no more)
Did you know you're loved by somebody
(Until the day the earth starts turnin' right to left)
Always
(Until the earth just for the sun denies itself)
I'll be lovin' you forever
(Until dear mother nature says her work is through)
Always
(Until the day that you are me and I am you)
Always
(Until the rainbow burns the stars out in the sky
Until the ocean severs every mountain high)
Always

*****
We all know sometimes life's hates and troubles
Can make you wish you were born in another time and space
But you can bet your lifetimes that and twice it's double
That God knew exactly where he wanted you to be placed
So make sure when you say you're in it, but not of it
You're not helpin' to make this earth
A place sometimes called hell
Change your words into truths
And then change that truth into love
And maybe our children's grandchildren
And their great grandchildren will tell

I'll be loving you until the rainbow burns the stars out in the sky

My dad was involved in his first appearance on TV, will always be "blind Little Stevie Wonder" to me

At Aretha's funeral

Thank you for that! Stevie Wonder is quite a preacher. Very powerful. It is a bit of a shock to see him a bit old and a bit fat....but then, every time I pass a mirror I wonder who that old lady is, gazing back at me [emoji23]
