i've noticed that when i'm traveling, having plenty of DVDs along is nice. i usually buy used DVDs along the way and sell them when i'm done with them. i usually pay from 2-3 bucks for a used DVD. this got me thinking, so i did some research and it's pretty easy to find good titles for about $1.00/DVD

it seems like this would be a great way to always have new movies to watch and also double or triple your money, as you could sell them along the way.

anyone do this?

i was even thinking if you're camped someplace with lots of people, like at the Slabs, you could rent them out for a buck a piece. just charge people 3 bucks when they borrow the DVD. when and if they bring it back you give a $2.00 refund. if they keep it you get your 2 dollar profit.
That sounds like a good idea, MT! How many do U typically have on
hand at any given time? (If that's possible to even answer, LOL!)

And where do U manage to find 'em for a buck each? The
cheapest I've ever found 'em, at least locally, is 6 for $10.

Hmmm I always rip mine off the DVD to an avi format and then put them on a 500 gb pocket hard drive...and then I watch them on my computer...this way I can carry 400-500 movies in my hand. This is not illegal BTW... It is illegal if you make copies and sell them or try to distribute them in anyway. Actually all of my entertainment fits in one small bag.

I have an acer netbook. Which is just a bit larger than a than a piece of paper and weights about a 3 lbs, a 500 gb pocket drive that powers from the usb and a nextbook 7" anndroid tablet with eight 8gb sd cards. I can move movies from the computer to the SD cards if I want my movies really mobile. The nextbook also acts as my e-reader, Ipod and gaming device. If I want to read I just switch sd cards, music is another SD card, the rest of the sd cards are movies (there are 8 or 9 on each card). I guess once you ripped the original you could sell it but I think the legality of this gets a bit grey

For me, I rip em, watch em, and would rather give to another for free... It is a good Karma builder... Just me...

Yeah I keep them all on a pocket HD and I have so many. I do have some DVD's but those are going to the kids so they can take them home with them. The few I will have left I am going to sell at a yard sale while I am cleaning out the house. I used to love movies. I still do get into a crazy movie watching kick sometimes but in fall and winter I love to work on crafts HuggZ

i don't have that many right now. i've just been buying and selling a few here and there for me to watch. but i do plan on trying this in the winter, when i travel. your local craigslist is a good source, also pawn shops. most pawn shops are selling for 2 to 3 bucks each DVD. but once in a while you'll come across a PS that has too many and sells cheaper. i have a secret place that sells for 1 buck/dvd.

there are probably many techno savy people who don't use DVDs, but there are also a BUNCH of people who aren't and still want DVDs. there's actually even a market for VHS tapes, if they are titles someone is looking for. also people who live in or have relatives in countries where it's kinda backwards (Mexico) are real into technology that we consider out of date.

other big sellers are gaudy looking ghetto blasters from the '80s, sony walkmans (cassette), vintage turntables and other quality electronics from the past. there's a really huge following of vintage gear. a lot of people love the "mechanicalness" of real things.

There are companies that do the DVD trading. you just post what you have, and agree to share them, then the postage and mailers are provided to you.

DVD SWAP is one group. There are a few.
