I've been seeing ads on Craigslist and other job sites for seasonal spring work ranging from construction, marine, landscaping etc.. As the spring thaw takes place it seems places like Minnesota and North Dakota seem to start hiring a lot for work from spring through the summer.

On average wages are higher in the Dakotas compared to other states even for minimum wage positions.

Anyone have any other insight into this?  Is it easy to stealth camp or van stay in Minnesota, and North Dakota? Definiteley a region to head up to for decent seasonal money it seems.

From news reports, at the height of the fracking boom, just about everybody lived in a mobile dwelling: when the town population goes up by a factor of 12 (pulling that out of my butt) in a matter of months, what else can you do? It's also pretty wide open.

Hopefully someone else has more specific advice.

I read that due to the huge drop of oil prices, a lot of jobs have been cut so I wonder how many jobs will be available in those areas for seasonal type jobs.

Areas like Fargo, and Grand Forks aren't oil driven. There are a lot of agriculture and construction type of temp jobs there from what I see.  Since there is a short window for these in that area. Just an idea for those who area wondering up north.

Oh good point, every time I have heard North Dakota or surrounding areas mentioned, it's to talk about the oil boom.
