Yea, I have a few of those, tho I didn’t know what they were when I found them.

I’m on a quest to find a pudding stone, but haven’t had any luck yet.
Where do you find pudding stones in Michigan?
Puddingstones - DRUMMOND ISLAND TOURISM ASSOCATION

They can be found along the shores of Drummond in our forests and anywhere earth has been turned. Drummond is known as the Gem of the Huron and at the center of her crown is the Puddingstone.

I hope the OP tolerates this digression from seashells, we will try to be brief. ☺️

Well, I don’t know where you find pudding stones, because I have yet to find one in spite of diligent efforts.

I have seen turned fields and been tempted to go searching in them, but have restrained myself. 😅

I have been to Drummond Island, where items made from pudding stones are a hot commodity, so it may be that they are rapidly picked up as soon as turned earth or whatever exposes them.

I did see one peeking out of the ground a couple of years ago, but it was on private property so I of course did not dig it up nor even try to see how big it was.

I think they are gorgeous, and would love to find one.

Maybe this year.

I’m back in Florida for probably most of the next 6 months and since I spent most of my day time strolling or parked on near a beach I’ll be looking out for spectacular seashells 🐚 or whatever interesting stuff the waves wash up.

My seashell collection is about maxed out, tho, but if I find something that I think is extraordinary, special or exceptional I’ll post it here.

I wonder if there will be more 'stuff' on the beaches because of all the storm activity or will it be less. Let us know what you find. I always love beach combing. I still have my bottles with barnacles and Chinese writing on them. They are huge and I found them really early one morning on an Oregon beach.... Found an old IV bottle once it was still about 1/8 full of some kind of liquid. Mostly though I find little shells. And of course beer bottles and lots of plastic beach toys. I know parents leave them on the steps down to the beach for other kidos to use but mostly they just get lost in the sand.

I would be interested to see pix of the bottles you found and speaking of medical waste washing up, i found this vile today (below).

Over the years I’ve found a lot of medical waste stuff: vials, syringes, etc. washed up on Florida beaches. I don’t know if it’s from US sources or Mexico/Central Murahka places brought here by currents & wind. 🤷🏻‍♂️ combination of both?

Found this interesting piece of broken shell:

And its other side:

Over the years I have found several painted shells by the Amelia Island Shell Group and several years back someone gave me one, which I kept. The other ones I’ve enjoyed with a smile and re-hid them.
The one above I brought back to the van to take the piks and then I re hid it for someone else to enjoy the Groups sense of shell mystery.

That looks like some kind of crafting stuff beads Glass balls or ?. It could be drugs or something but before I tossed it, I would ask someone who might know more about it than me. Just because I am a curious kinda person.

For some reason I can see you dropping shells at beaches where they normally aren't just to mess with the locals.

Might help you keep your collection manageable lol.

😂 I can’t say that this hasn’t crossed my mind but it wouldn’t fool any shelling locals but it would fool most tourists.

What I have done on occasion tho - tru confession dept - is take a dozen or so pennies and discreetly scatter them around on the beach for the treasure seekers with their metal locators to find. You know the ones out there who think there going to find a piece of the Atocha or something.
Then I sit in the van waiting for the games to begin. It’s cheap great entertainment when they think they’ve really got something. 😈

What I found today - this morning - on the beach at MacArthur State Park that I kept.
Top is a fighting conch - common as hell & find them everywhere but I kept this 1 kawz the color was exceptional
A pure white olive - never found 1 that is literally pure white so yeah pikt it up
A Caribbean Vase - this is the fifth 1 I think I’ve ever found so yeah kept it;
Deer Cowrie far right ;
A small horse conch - brilliant orange color and yes I have plenty but well itsa horse conch!
A junanio - first 1 I’ve ever found and they are sooo rare to find especially on the Atlantic Coast of Florida. Despite being broken yes! I kept it.
Last, an Atlantic Thorny Oyster, such perfect shape and gorgeous orange color. Had to pik it up.
Then manmade stuff: great woman’s snorkeling face mask - great shape; I’ll gift it to someone.
The fish knife - glad I found it b4 some lil kid;
And that big ass fish hook which I’ll file the point & barb off and mount in the van some place to hang stuff on.

A damn good day at the beach 🤙

Here’s a close up of the junanio. They are so rare to find on the Gulf Coast and even more so on the Atlantic.
They are the Holy Grail of shellers and this broken 1 is probably the closest I’ll ever come to finding one intact.
🤙😎
