After Bob's last livestream about
Vehicles he liked, I came upon this ad for a Scamp.

https://2000scamptrailer16ft2003.yolasite.com/

When I enquired about showing me proof of ownership, I got this email...

Hi again ,

As I have told you in previous email my husband passed away recently and me and my daughter had to move with my parents in Omaha, NE. At the moment they are the only ones I can rely on. The trailer is already at the shipping company sealed and ready for delivery. I decided to use eBay to complete the transaction because they can offer protection for both parties involved. The deal includes free delivery and it will arrive at your address in 2-3 days if you decide to go ahead with the transaction. Once you will get the trailer you will have 5 days to try it out prior to making any purchase. In the case you feel that the trailer is not suitable or is not as I described it, you can just return it with all fees being on my expense but I assure you it will not be the case. Along with the trailer you will receive all necessary papers to register it into your name including the free clear title which will be already back signed by me and notarized for the transfer.

If you are interested in knowing more info about how it works, simply reply with your full name, shipping address and phone# and I can ask eBay to get in contact with you to provide you more information on how to purchase it.

As soon as I hear from you I will initiate the transaction through eBay and they will contact you right away and they will explain you the entire process better.

Sincerely,

Doris

Wow...the spelling, grammar, and syntax of the scammer's emails is getting much better....you can tell that was written by a native English speaker.

Scary, because someone, somewhere, will fall for that.

WOW hell of a deal.

free delivery to boot at that low low price of 2K....geez now that seller is just a kind human being just giving it away and paying for ALL delivery, paying for if ya hate it, ALL fees and return ship costs are on her.

Hmmmm…..hope Doris ain't for real or the parents and all this family are just financial dopes in this family HA HA

omg, yes the way it is worded almost makes it 'seem real' in a way but if ya really look at it.....who are ya kidding. Doris might as well give it away for free at this point LOL :)

too wild

If it seems too good to be true it probably is. When I was shopping Craigslist for a camper I bet I flagged a thousand of those type ads, literally. They always use the would be buyer's greed, something for nothing (I'm guilty as well), as a gateway.

add an S at the end

Doris Roberts is that actress that played Raymonds mom :)

everyone loves Raymond LOL

There are many things I will only buy face-to-face, in cash. This would be one of them.

By the way, about fiberglass egg travel trailers:

On some of them the door is curved, following the contour of the trailer. After a while those things have problems sealing and properly latching. If you're going to get one of the fiberglass egg trailers, look for one with a flat door.

getting better on their translations but

"Once you will get the trailer"

"all fees being on my expense"

" they will explain you the entire process better"

i dont know any native speakers that talk or write like that

I wish these Scammers could be shut down.

Maybe an Omaha thing

that last one gave me a chuckle, of course i misread it to say obama...

Common type of message for a scam.
"Sealed cargo." Like they shrink wrap the trailer and put on a flat bed.
Usually selling something that would go for thousands for $1,000 or less.
Next step would be fees at various port of entries between US states to get the cargo to you. The fees would be refunded once you "receive" the cargo.
Surprised that they can use eBay for this.
The FBI might want to to look into this instead of "Russians".

Craigslist is just chock full of these all over the place,...whether trailers, cars, trucks or whatever. I'm kind of lucky in that I live in Phoenix, and its always a dead give away when the photos are in an area full of non-native vegetation that just doesn't grow here, also with an email and/or phone number imposed on the image so you can't easily copy and paste for your own records. Another tactic is that the photo is claimed to have been taken when the owner lived at xxxxx state or city before moving here and just decided to use the old photo,...oh yeah, and it'll be here later in the week when the brother drives it down from xxxxx location. But hey,...give me a deposit, and it'll be yours the mome t it arrives, sucker.

Yeah, I had texted the link to the scamp to myself. It has since been disabled lol

They will want upfront payment with EBAY gift cards scratched off and scanned and sent to them.

I ran into this exact scam a year ago, involving a pick up. She claimed to be an army medic about to be deployed, and was selling her deceased brothers truck. And as the truck was in Virginia, she would pay shipping to Omaha for me to inspect. Provided I prepay, of course.

Her story had so many holes in it, and quickly fell apart over the course of several emails. I'm dumb, but not that dumb.

That's definitely a scam. The shipping company BS is a clue. "Covered" cargo is also used.
What shipping company would accept a load without a destination? Be a storage lot for free?

Natural green grass in Las Vegas images. Dark brown soil. Ya sure.

If it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck and swims like a duck it’s a duck. Every day on our craigslist in Lancaster PA we have about three or four unbelievable deals for campers. I just can’t imagine who is stupid enough to fall for this.
