50-100 a month? hmm, unless forced by those circumstances for whatever reason I have to say most are spending more point blank. Poster is wanting to live in a van for like 5-7 yrs and LIVE literally, not just survive. It would take a certain personality to live on 100 bucks a month tops! Not many will fit into that category.

Ding is right, the costs are high for even a moderate lifestyle.

and emergencies, we ALL know they kick in....one being the dreaded repairs can be super costly if the luck of the van is against ya and another is health troubles. Anyone at any time can go down with monster health issues so....it is the unexpected that gets ya, not the usual daily living expenses (which are always higher than one ever budgets for and we've all had $20s bleed thru our hands and wonder where the heck they went) :)

Lenny -- how much do you put aside each month for an emergency repair fund, or other type of emergency fund?

I always keep enough on hand to replace the van and everything in it if necessary.

I'm guessing that 6-800 is probably a realistic monthly budget. I won't be eating out, or doing heaps of driving if I can help it.
