Trailer walls? Roof laid like shingles?

Any of you Texans involved in a project of this sort might give some consideration to this.

The Habitat for Humanity ReStore in Kerrville still had dozens of tough, opaque shower doors leaning up against one wall, been there a long while. They're a bit heavy, but they might fit into the future lives of people searching for economical solutions as roofs, walls, whatever.

http://sofarfromheaven.com/2011/10/18/building-a-salvage-chicken-hilton-one-man-band/

I picked up a bunch of them and used them on my chicken house. Found them to be a lot more resistent to breakage than I'd have imagined.

If you're interested you might want to check with Linda Garcia, Manager of the ReStore before driving there. If you PM me I'll provide you a phone number.

Although too heavy for travel, IMO. They'd make great walls for a green house at a home base ... they let light in, open for ventilation, close for warmth.

Here they are in the H for H ReStore yard a month or so ago.

Weight would be an issue for some, maybe less for others. I'd guess they weigh out about the same as a sheet of 3/8 plywood, lighter than 3/8 particle board. But don't cover as much area.

If I were half the man I think I am I'd figure out a way to use the ones I've got for walls and roof on this Tractor Supply trailer I got in a swap to pull behind the RV.

But, of course, I'm not.

And the whole issue of buying plywood to put a box on it is too far down my list of financial priorities to see it happen anytime soon.

I've been considering just making a cage-like box resembling a feral hog trap, which I can do because I have stock panels available free. Maybe hose-clamp them all together except for hinging the top and putting a means of locking the top-gate shut. Quick, strong [the stock panels would actually provide structural support to those flimsy frame members on the trailer], light, and cheap.

But I might yet decide to take the plunge and try shower doors.
