Safety in State Parks

State parks might've been my next experience outside my comfort zone; though I hesitate after reading this news:

You have a better chance of dying in a traffic accident on the way to the park than you do of being shot by a stranger.

The human mind fixates on such things, but it's generally a waste of worry.

Seek crime and ye shall find it. The web is full of stories. Feel safe in a house? How about the home invasions, especially near LA?

The lesson is try to prepare for trouble but live your life rather then being afraid of it.

also that park is in the middle of the greater Los Angeles area. there are several areas around LA that I would not be caught in at night. parks and NF are no exception. highdesertranger

While there are crimes committed by people who are of the criminal predatory nature and mindset everyday, not every crime story wiil necesarily be directly affecting our life. The victims, motives and circumstances are not always equal and we can't prevent all crimes...remember "the devil's in the details". Just be aware..
