Hello All

  I found a roadtrek- 1992 versatile 190 on a dodge.  OK, as a newbie reading the books I still have not used anything.  My problem, the prior owner put a kill switch on the battery and told me to use it every night and driving.  Ok, well after having a dead battery twice as of last night I used it.  Went to 4 different places, the only one that makes sense is because they showed me-the battery was attached to a light bulb thingie---and the car was off but the battery light up the battery.  OK, so something is on and I do not know what it is -----so today I am going to look for what is on ----I am thinking it is the radio even though I have not used.

I need to take care of this and then I need to buy a new battery because I was told the battery is no good.

Any thoughts would greatly be appreciated.

Also, I was told find a dodge mechanic who can work on the engine, etc.  Then find the RV person who can work on the inside.

I am looking for the RV person I live in New York.

Thanking you in advance.

If you are able to post a few pictures of the switch it would help in understanding the situation and figuring out what to do with the settings. There's several battery isolater's on the market so it really is important to know what you have installed in your Dodge. Congratulations! They are nice class B's

If you can't find anything, you can use a multimeter in amp settings and disconnect plus terminal of battery and you connect multimeter one wire to terminal and the other to the plus wire. The multimeter will monitor all amps going through it.

This will show you how much is being drained, make sure car door is closed and key in off position. Now you can start pulling fuses until you get a reading of zero on multimeter. This will narrow it down for you.

If when you connect the multimeter and it reads zero that no amps is being drained when you first connect it, then that means you have a loose connection. This loose connection means the alternator is not fully charging your battery, that why it feels your battery is being drained. On my astrovan I had a parasitic drain for years that I couldnt find, finally track it down to a worn battery terminal that wasn't fully tighening down. I replace many batteries because of it. When I first use a multimeter on it to troubleshoot it, it read zero, but I disregarded it and suspected the multimeter was bad.

If you have facebook, I urge you to join the roadtrek groups; especially the '74-'04 Roadtrek Owners - Vintage & Classic years. It has a wealth of knowledge.

Thank you for your explanation. I have no idea how to attach a picture.
