yum can I come over for diner? my grandpa was a lima bean farmer I love them. highdesertranger

The steak sounds good. Not much of a bean eater though.

Two cups of green limas, 1/2 to 1 cup creamed corn, small can of green chilies, garlic, parsley, and seasoning to taste. Some times I stir into the pan were I cooked a steak, over a splash of brandy or bourbon.

Sounds like a damn near perfect evening. Makes me want to take a trip and get out on the road all the more.

Found an excellent local butcher who raises, butchers, and sells his own beef. (Pork too) Looks like i'm gonna go grab myself a ribeye as well.

Cornbread is one of my favorites. I like to cook it in cast iron.

Lima beans are not like other beans. Don't compare them with any other. Dry limas as butter beans. Green limas as many other fine recipes.
HDR, where was the farm. There is still a Lima Bean Festival near my hometown. Down in Cape May, NJ

believe it or not it was all around LAX, mainly El Segundo and Inglewood, California. this is before LA and Orange County was totally built up. he grew Butter Beans(dried Lima beans). highdesertranger

So this post gave me a craving for a Ribeye.  Stopped by the local butcher and grabbed one.    Even though I'm not on the road,  I sometimes like to pretend I am by cooking on the tailgate.  I have a camper in the driveway so my camping gear is always ready and willing.
