For those VERY cold mornings. Any one have one? They don't seem to expensive. They do sound tempting. You can stay under the covers for a few minutes and the car will be warm to turn heat on ...right away.<div>I was also thinking it would also be a good crime defer if anyone came too close.</div>

I had one I installed on an older K-car - it never worked properly. The engine tried to turn over, but wouldn't start. Might work better on the newer cars.

Had no idea what a K-car was until I&nbsp;Google&nbsp;it. They stopped making them in 1989 if&nbsp;Im&nbsp;correct.

Yes. The problem appeared to be the car, not the remote system. They're no difficult to install, just check the directions for your particular vehicle. You need to be able to get under the dashboard of your vehicle, though. Or knw someone who can.

Bears? Panic? Yeah I would too. LOL<div>Panic button means the horn blows when you use it..right? Good to see you back BTW. Thanks for the email...we were worried.&nbsp;</div>

I almost got one when I was living in Minneapolis. I opted out because it renders your car alarm useless. As long as you don't have a problem with that, they're great!<div><br></div>

Is that for the panic button or the remote starter that shuts the alarm off?

<P>What kind of vehicle? What about falling asleep? Theres a lady that has a blog who sleeps and travels in a Prius. She leaves the key on and every hour for about 5 minutes it will start up and run to keep her batteries charged. If you leave the heater or air conditioner on it runs for that 5 minutes also....HoboJoe</P>

<br>Get one.&nbsp; It's fantastic.<br>&nbsp; We bought one at Best Buy and they installed it. It will only work with an automatic transmission with a fuel injected engine. A good investment and has been used many times.<br>We are in a 19 foot van and with one click from a cold bed, it turns on the&nbsp; engine heater and warms up the whole van in no time.&nbsp; The trick is to make sure the heater control and the fan speed is preset the night before. It works so well, I don't know how we got along without it. It's a luxury but so nice to have.<br>The other advantage, to me, is a safety issue. If I hear a knock on the door or someone trying the door handle at 3 in the morning, I can immediately start the vehicle and hopefully startle whoever is there and drive away without confrontation.<br>We 've only had one situation in a very dark parking lot where an odd fellow began beating on the window at 3 am. Stupidly, we asked what he wanted.<br>He asked if we were the folks who wanted our lawn mowed......<br><br><br>Nelda<br>

Sounds good. A no brainer. I will be getting one as soon as I get my van.

I'm not endorsing this unit, but using it as an example, because the installation guide is online. It's not, difficult to install - wires are color coded and the instructions show how to connect wires . If you've never done it before, just take time to go over the instructions several times, and leave yourself plenty of time to do the install, with time for breaks if you get frustrated.

You can do it. Or a friend/family member. This is a $70 unit.

She - It doesn't affect your panic button. It basically renders the car alarm's ability to kill your ignition/starter rendering the alarm useless at that point. So if you have an alarm without an ignition kill then I'd say go ahead and install it.<div><br></div>

This subject follows&nbsp; the line and thinking of remote controls for TV's... Is it to much to get up and change the channel or for that matter to much to start your vehicle...??? Life vandwelling is not for the faint of heart of the lazy person, it is as much full of adventure and fun as it is about some heart ache, tribulations and disappointment...<br><br>If you can afford a remote starter more power to ya, me i can think of allot of other things to spend my money on like long Johns and a sweat shirt to wear to bed for the eventful cold morning chores or gas to get you to a warm climate...<br><br>just sayin'<br><br>

Well its taken me some time to answer this as my laptop stick is dead. Im on Wifi free now. To answer that question well if I was just traveling around the country I guess I would have no need for it. I have to rise at the god worldly hour of 3:30 am 5 days a week and I just want something to ease the pain of it on a below 0 morning. Yes I could do other things with my money...I want to be able to get to work on time. I want to be able to get to work awake and raring to go. Its not fun getting up at 3:30 every morning when its freezing. Thats just my thought on this. Im having a REAL crappy week so if I came on to strong ...sorry.
