I've only made these twice -- and they're not super easy. I cannot promise they'll be perfect. Only that they'll be fresh treats. Any potential guinea pigs?

Not fair offering doughnuts when I'm stuck in Michigan at the moment. Totally envious of all who are there!!!!

I googled “bomboloni” and they look pretty delicious. Rav.

You are very ambitious, to do both bread and doughnuts.

But then, yeast breads are always a labor of love, in my world.

I've just finished mixing and kneading the dough. It's an unnecessarily complicated recipe, but since I'm not very familiar with sourdough sweet doughs, I'm doing the author's crazy dance. They will either be done tomorrow or the next day, depending on both the dough and how warm I keep my little egg.

Cammalu, do you happen to have a cookie sheet you could lend me? And maybe some powdered sugar? Neither is necessary- both would be handy : )
 
Yes cookie sheet and powdered sugar. What’s next? Hot malasadas I hope!!!
 
Doug and Paulette and Brian have supplied the stuffs.

Malasadas are nothing but donut holes with fancy name and large price, IMO. So yeah-- I could do that easy! ?
 
Today is bomboloni day =)

I can't give a time yet, so when I know, I will text the three people whose numbers I have and they can let the others know. I'm guessing early afternoon-ish.
 
It'll have to be someone, cause I gave up on posting pics here. I only hope they come out pretty! Well... It is def more important for them to be tasty, but you can't really see that in pics.
 
They came out not just pretty but also besutiful. Best jelly donuts ever and I have eaten jelly donuts at siome very excellent bakeries. The fillings were as supurb as theshell. My complements to the pastry chef. You truly would an award winning one if they were ever entered into a bake off.

Thanks, folks. And thanks for posting pics, Doug : )

Now I am agonizing about all of that good quality oil I'm going to have to throw away. Briefly considered making French fries, but they're definitely not on my diet! I try to tell myself that it's better as fat in the garbage than as fat wrapped around my internal organs. But dang. Once a person starts thinking about French fries, it's nearly impossible to stop.
