My 2017 F250 (torqshift-g transmission) recently had a similar recall. Apparently there was a bracket within the transmission that shattered when the vehicle was rear ended allowing it to slip out of park and roll away. I believe, in my case, they replaced the bracket with one made from a better quality of material.

What I didn't like was when they dropped the pan on the transmission, they saved the fluid and poured it back in. What I had rather they did was let me know they were going to do this and offer to let me buy new transmission fluid.

stuff like this is SOP for most stealerships. especially when doing warranty/recall jobs. highdesertranger

"Fiat Chrysler said that based on those reports — from owners, dealers and other sources — it had traced the issue to a part known as a brake transmission shift interlock, a device that normally prevents a vehicle from shifting out of park until the brake pedal is depressed."

And since brake interlocks were introduced after the "sudden acceleration" issue of the 1980's, that every civilized nation investigated and all came to the same conclusion of "pedal misapplication by driver"...Fiat now has to recall 1.8 million trucks to fix something we never needed in the first place.

[However my opinion on this does not exonerate Fiat/Jeep in the death of actor Anton Yelchin (new Chekov in Star Trek movie) due to an e-shifter control issue/confusion...that recall affected 1.1 million vehicles and dealt with rewriting software.]

I remember that Jeep issue, it rolled back and crushed him against a wrought iron fence as I recall...
