Rain-X Anti Fog

Anyone have any experience with this stuff? Does it work worth a damn? Windows were super foggy this morning.

if not put on correctly it will cause a nasty rainbow glare on your windshield at nite while driving.......I give it a thumbs down!......been there tried it!!

I could be wrong, but I seem to recall the stuff makes the raindrops simply slide right off instead of "sticking" to the windshield. Or maybe I'm getting it confused with some other similar window stuff.

Same company, different product.

I tried it once before leaving Minnesota and had a less than favorable experience (memory is as hazy as my windshield was). Was hoping I had been doing it wrong.

Stuff is cheap (<$3 bottle) but that hardly matters if visibility is hampered.

It does work OK, but you have to have a really clean surface first. If it causes the rainbow effect you need to wipe down the glass with a damp cloth really well. That happens from to much applied.

I used rain-x anti fog on my motorcycle face shield, the condensation is still there it just seems to make the water droplets smaller so you can see better but it is not as clear as glass without condensation. I would have to lift my face shield a bit to clear the condensation. So it really doesn't work like you think it should.

I I to use it an the standard Rain-X product regularly on my passenger cars, it works! Buy as others have said, you have to clean the windows inside and out really well before applying. Then after applying, wait for it to haze over and then go back and really polish the glad with a new clean, dry cloth.

I stopped using it because it was a lot of work and only lasted a few months. Just letting the vehicle warm up for a few minutes with the defroster ruining full blast accomplished the same thing.

I never used it on a vehicle I slept in, so YMMV.

We use the Rainex washer fluid (orange stuff). I have used it in a trigger sprayer to clean the inside of the glass with no problems. The glass still fogs up but once wiped it tends to stay clearer than with no cleaner on it. My solution has been to put an electric heater in the car on a timer to come on and heat the car before I have to get out in it to go to work.

You may try cleaning the interior glass well then waxing it with a clear silicone glaze. I don't know how you are going to get around the wiping down. Use a faux chamios cloth for best fog removal.

Heck, even my BMW coupe gets all fogged up on certain days, and I don't even live in that little sucker!

The Rainex "orange stuff" washer fluid ruined the sensor on my ex-car that lets you know when the washer fluid tank is empty. Even when full the light for empty would still come on.

man rain x puts xa horrible glare...at least the regular. had to use it once cause wiper motor went out and couldnt replace at the time. it was undrivable at night

Lots of less-than-favorable reviews for the Rain-X line of products! =) It was pretty warm last night so I didn't have any fog this morning but I have a small towel I'm keeping in the cab for the next time, The heater does get rid of the buildup but it takes longer than I want to wait.

i use a knockoff shamwow thing. i get a huge square of it for 3 bucks at an 'as seen on tv' store here. it works pretty well. if i was boondocking id leave it in the windshield between the sun visor, maybe absorb some moisture up front

I use a glass cleaner squeegee. Usually I only get build up when I cook soup or boil pasta. Regular breathing does not do it.

I use star brite marine polish with ptef on exterior glass. Beads water as well as rainx. No rainbow starbursts. Lasts for months. Try not to use anything on interior but squeegee. Or old clean t shirt that gets relegated to rag duty.

I have a 19yo tempermental Jeep. No problems. But then that's why there are so many similar products on the market. So we can find the ones that we like.

I have used the fog before, and as I recall my impression was meh. It was ok, but not worth the trouble.

I LOVE the regular Rain-X product. I always use it on my windshield, or the washer fluid. I consider it a safety issue. When it rains hard, wipers are worthless compared to a treated windshield. The water just blows off and you can SEE!. Dramatically improves visibility in rain vs. just wipers.
