This may be common knowledge for a lot of you but I was unaware and hopefully sharing with other newbs will save them some cleaning.

Traveled to Quartzsite about two weeks ago(didn't go to RTR but boondocked in the desert). Arriving in the evening I sat outside in my chair to watch the sunset and opened the hatch to my car to let things air out after a long drive.

Long story short after about an hour I go to grab a water and everything in my vehicle is covered with a thin layer of dirt/sand. It was a tad windy out but nothing abnormal and certainly not uncomfortable/blowing lots of grit around so I'm not sure how that happened but dirt ended up on my bedding, seats, dashboard and just about everything else. Not too big a deal as I was able to wipe everything down with a damp cloth but it did get into spaces such as my windows(rolling them up or down creates a small grinding noise now), on my laptop keyboard that was closed, inside my visor mirror, etc etc.

Hope this helps someone :)

Yep, the Quartzsite dust and find sand will get into your van one way or another.

Perhaps you are parked in the wrong spot?

I probably wouldn't park anywhere there was regular vehicle or foot travel. Any shuffling around or wheels turning will kick up dust and if you are downwind then you get dusted.

I have noticed that ATVers kick up large amounts of dust and if you are within sight here you will get a nice layer from them. Good luck avoiding them.

A big help is floor mats. One out side and one inside seems to help on the foot traffic dust/dirt/sand but even leaving your shoes outside will not cure this issue. The only cure I know of is to sweep and dust everyday or surrender to living with dust.

Not a lot of ATV,s at the RTR and I encourage drivers to slow the F##k down 5 MPH tops. unless you are a thoughtless uncaring ragamuffin you will understand.

I think Bob reported about 500+\- people showed up at RTR Quartzsite last year. Keep in mind the RTR is surrounded by an estimated 250K other campers. Dust is in the air and there is no escaping it...
