AyrFoil. ..Willy.

It wasn't a link.. just the brand name. Punch it in Google and you'll get a ton of hits. I think it's more properly spelled Ayr Foil, but either way works. ..Willy.

I used some Reflexi-whatever in my van. It cuts easy with a box blade and I taped it up with what is essentially duct tape (but it said 'super strength' or something on the roll.

I also used some foam board over my windows and it's worth noting that within a few weeks (maybe four tops) the boards were warped and bowed significantly more than when you purchase them. Also, we used a lot of this foam board when I worked in framing and fine art and 'old' foam board (the basic kind you get at craft/office stores, yes) degrades horrible - especially in heat. It flakes and crumbles and falls apart. After these two experiences I wouldn't use it, personally.

Translucent Coroplast over the windows works great during the winter. They also now have essentially identical stuff, but clear, made outta Lexan. ..Willy.

Thanks for all the links and help
has anyone anypictures of their finished installation
Royz

Here is one, about the 10th post down has some pics

https://vanlivingforum.com/post/Grandmas-Chevy-Cargo-Van-Conversion-to-a-Simple-Camper-Van-6014225

There are probably a few in the conversion forum. I have a good bit of mine insulated, I will post pics when its done. I am using a combination of foil backed styrofoam panels and knockoff reflectix. I paid $46 at lowe's for 6 4'x8' panels and have used 2 so far to do most of the sides. I'm cutting them and squeezing them into place between the ribs of the van, and then duct taping them. I thought i was using my gorilla tape but it was just black duct I might go back over with the stronger tape, but the panels are wedged in there pretty good anyway. I still got to do the ceiling and the trickier spots ill use the more flexible and narrow reflectix I have. (around my tail lights, wheel wells, gas nozzle cover thingy).

Does any of this insulation squeek and squeel when the vehicle moves around?

Only if ya got mice shacked up in there.

I was worried about this too, so far so good on the squeaks. Maybe as time goes on they may work loose and cause this but so far nothing. My van is a 90 chevy, wasn't exactly quiet to begin with though

Even the side that doesn't have the foil has a very thin clear coating of some kind on it, which probably helps with the squeaking.

Thanks for that info on your experience. I have these nightmares of the old style Styrofoam coolers squeaking in the back :)

I was reading the Reflectix package and it said not to bring in contact with 180 deg. surface. Has anyone used Reflectix on their windows and had issues?
