  I've got one and I'm just looking for places to get the word out. Get more eyes on it. Can I post it here or not? If I can where do I post it? I dont wanna break any rules. Just looking for that little boost of exposure for my plight.

first off thanks for asking. you must get approval before posting your "go-fund-me". posting the question is the first step. can you PM a link to me or one of the other moderators? so it can be reviewed. thanks again for asking, a lot of people would have just posted it. highdesertranger

ArciePanda,

I agree with highdesertranger and appreciate so much that you asked before just posting. As you look on the forum, you'll see we rarely have GoFundMe links posted by our members. When someone does unknowingly post a link, we remove it and send the poster a message explaining that it's not allowed except in very rare circumstances (typically by a forum moderator, admin or owner).

That said, this community still has a lot to offer you, perhaps more valuable than money, and I hope you will seek their wisdom and advice.

Before doing a build-out on your van, consider taking weekend or week-long vacations to camp in it to really experience the vandwelling lifestyle firsthand. Just throw a mattress on the floor, take some food and water, and go out and camp when the weather is pleasant. You will learn tons on those small trips. Watch YouTube videos or read about blogs of vans that have been furnished (rather than built out) with pieces from Thrift Stores. A build out is most very definitely not necessary to live this life.

The best to you as you dream and plan. You can do it with what you have now!

Of course, I wouldn't want to just toss random donation links out without making sure it's okay. And if it never get put up for public eyes. Then so be it. At least I tried, right?

I've been doing nonstop research for almost a year now, trying to learn everything I can about everything I might need. And I will be living in my van permanently starting tomorrow, build or furnished or not. So I will have plenty of time to live in and get a feel for what I need/want for the future.

This GoFundMe is just a basic overall "help me if you want/can" kinda thing. Can'tt hurt to ask type of moment, just spreading my feelers out the only way I feel I can right now. I'm slowly learning how to do the things I'll need to for the van, from others in the community. Even if it is just verbally. They've been great help with just knowledge so far.

I've lived in trailers and campers for fair lengths of time growing up, out in the mountains hunting for weeks. And camping at state parts for events. I feel like its given me a good sense for what I personally need to be comfortable. Which I hope I translated properly into my build design. But I fully understand that I'll need to get my hand dirty in this van and at this stage of my life before I'll really know.

Thanks so much for the comments and the encouragement. I look forward to talking with you all and learning what I can while making new friends.

what is the reason for your gofundme?

My GoFundMe is to help me raise money to build my van into a livable space for me and my cat. I'm going to be living in it for the foreseeable future starting today, and so far its empty with only a bench seat in the back.

It is a larger conversion van. Carpeted, with curtained windows, and the bench lays flat to sleep on. But that's it. I'm looking to build a better bed, a small kitchen, a desk and as much storage as I can out of wood frames and plywood. My ultimate goal is to get solar panels and mobile internet access to be able to work online and go back to school.

I'm pretty much just asking for help getting these things faster, because on my own it will take a long long time, so I can focus on improving myself without the worry of how I'm going to manage my living space.
