I posted a new thread about whether this lifestyle to someone 70+ with health problems and I sort of left it after no replies for a couple days. Came back and found that many people had posted excellent helpful responses. Not time to reply to all so doing this. My life has changed since, I lost my dog 5-5-21 to complications from lymphoma. Time to reassess. Still the same person however other than I decided to stay in Arizona as a way to honor her. Housing prices are going insane so choosing this path seems more sensible than ever.

So sorry to hear your companion animal passed. That is tough. I'm sure the spirit is with you on your journey.

Because of covid limiting travel, park models are super cheap right now. You could build a cheap home base and make the leap from there.

Also some people just get a RV Park site and pay annual fees for their home base, use the showers, laundry, mail, etc between trips and have their shed to store "at home" stuff. Couple ideas for you.

PilbaraWanderer, welcome . . . are you still planning to stay in Arizona? Or are you wanting to travel to other states now that your dog has "crossed the rainbow bridge" . . . as they say...? My sympathy on the loss of your dog companion.

I missed seeing the other thread... so, what kinds of health problems are you concerned about. I am 68 and like most people our age, there are multiple health problems that arise. So far nothing is making me think I can't drive and travel.

Good info since not knowing basic logistics is a barrier to entry. What crossed my mind was that RV park managers could mimic condo HOA boards and toss around a lot of constraints. No doubt it varies by park since finding a good one to use as a home base makes a lot of sense.

Still getting used to this format..,

Won't wander too far if I do commit. I have the usual health problems plus severe neuropathy in both legs and lower back problems that make long drives brutal. That's why I live in an interesting area, AZ White Mountains, so interesting things and wilderness are close. If I pull the trigger on this I'll have to find a rig that has top quality seats. The appealing thing with this lifestyle for me is the ability to move periodically without boiling the ocean.
