Two weeks ago, we went on our first road trip with our van project.
I'd say it was a huge success, and we now have a list of things we forgot to bring, or thought we might need next time.

But, I have a couple of system questions.
While parked back at the sticks an brick, should I leave the shore line plugged in 24/7?
This means the fridge is running with 110v and there is no draw on the batteries.

Which brings me to the second question, when the batteries get topped off, what then happens to the excess voltage? The solar panels say they are inputting 13.6 or more, and the charger/inverter is still attached and outputting as far as I know.

Should I unplug the shore line and run the fridge, fan, and lights, etc, to create a discharge state, every so often???

So, what do you all think?

If. That is if, you have the proper charger and solar controller, leaving the shore line connected for short periods, will not hurt. If I were gone for a week I would not worry. Solar controllers will send excess power into a heat sink. Batteries like to work, but they have a limited number of cycles and will reach their end. My charger drops to zero amps after the battery is full-up. The voltage drops to 13.4.
