Just a thought since you will be working where you are staying, will they throw an extension cord out the door for you to use overnight?

Edit to add: Why don't you go to the newcomers corner and introduce yourself? It is ok to start a new thread and poor practice to hijack someone else's.

Many of those trucks have a battery voltage sensor. They will start the engine when necessary to recharge the battery.
I did not see how many watts or amps that they use. I would imagine quite a lot.

A two hose portable should be fairly efficient, but I have not seen any small ones. They tend to be larger and use a lot of electricity because of the larger compressor.

If one was handy with making boxes, they could turn a window AC into a remote AC with hoses. If mounted outside, you would just need two hoses for the evaporator section.

When I was living in my first RV, after it blew it's transmission and I had it towed to a cheap "RV park" North of Lockhart, TX, I bought one of those "portable" units from Lowe's. I thought it worked just fine. I would set it on low while I was out or at work all day, then turn it up to high while I was there. It kept me perfectly comfortable. But I wouldn't use one on the road. The housings are made out of cheap plastic that wouldn't likely hold up on rough roads.

I don't think they are "bad,' per se. Just not suitable for this particular purpose.

yep back in the day that would have gone straight to the trash.

I thought this cute, little personal air conditioner would be great for nomading, then I saw that it consumes water and has a rechargeable battery. Still it might be good to have around for additional cooling when needed and emergencies. Blaux Portable AC    Consumer Bags Review Of The Blaux Portable AC

I posted this because I like to help others and I may buy this myself. Was this a wrong thing to do here?

your fine I said "back in the day" and back in the day your post would have been deleted as you had to have a certain number of posts to qualify to post links. highdesertranger

It's the product and the website. "Blaux", is pronounced "blow". "Blaux" looks fancy and highfalutin.

Cheaper to use a small 12V fan and a $1 spray bottle to get the same "cooling" effect.

You are okay.

Are you saying that I've posted click bait or are you referring to someone else's post?

Thank you. I appreciate your reply. And it's my understanding from the many forums I've been a member of over the years that it's better as a newbie to search and reply to established threads rather than creating a lot of new repetitive ones. So I'm taking my time creating new threads, but I like to read and help out. :sleepy:

For all the product's worth, I do agree with you about the more economical method. I just wouldn't want to keep having to spray into the 12V fan.  But I don't want to waste money on highfalutin stuff either! :) But it might be a Godsend to someone! Thanks for your reply and assurance!

Not at IGT.

You mean you did not make your statement aimed at my post? Are you using IGT to refer to ImagineGoTravel? I want to understand and make sure that I don't misunderstand. I'm a newbie here, coming in to learn and help. You made this comment "Looks like click bait to me.  I wouldn't click on it!  Two posts and no threads," immediately under my post, with no username/quote reference. I posted at 9:13 and you posted under me at 9:52. At that time I probably had only 2 posts and I had not created any threads (and still have not). It seemed highly likely that you were pointing at me. If I was wrong I apologize.

I have been following Bob's CRVL YT vids for a couple of years now. I appreciate his diligence in reaching out to help many realize their dreams of freedom on the road. He is a very kind person who always goes out of his way to make everyone feel welcome. I expected to have that experience here at his forums, because I always feel very comfortable when viewing his vids and his FB posts.

It's all good ImagineGoTravel. Back in the 70's my dad saw an ad in a magazine for a device that was guaranteed to kill cockroaches. He ordered it and 6 weeks later he received two 6 inch long 2x4 fir boards. The instructions were "Place the cockroach between the two boards and mash it!". He thought it was pretty funny and kept it around for years. Some folks have perhaps in the past fallen for these sorts of things and are in a constant state of alert for scams. Don't take it personally.
