Hi TXjaybird

for this month and now they tacked on another $11.00 to my rent for stupid
LATE FEES , sense when did the rent due date changed ?
it has always been the 10th of every month   :dodgy:

DO YOU LIVE IN PUBLIC HOUSING?  I DO AND  FOR OVER 6YRS THE LAST DAY TO PAY RENT WITHOUT A LATE FEE WAS THE 10TH.
THE RENT IS DUE ON THE FIRST.   RECENTLY IT WAS CHANGED TO THE 9TH AS THE LAST DAY TO PAY WITHOUT A LATE FEE HERE WHERE I LIVE.  WE DID RECEIVE A WRITTEN LETTER ABOUT THE CHANGE.
_____________________________________________________________________________________________

they are Nickel and Dimeing me to death  :(
when i moved in here ( about 5 years ago ) and even before i signed the
papers to move in i asked them if it was ok to smoke in my apartment ,
they told me yes and now they pull this on me ?!?!!!!!

IF YOU ARE IN A FEDERAL AND/OR MAYBE A STATE SUBSIDIZED APT. THERE HAVE BEEN LAWS PASSED TO STOP SMOKING WITHIN 25FT OF THE BUILDINGS.  THIS GOES IN EFFECT ON AUGUST THE 1ST HERE.  THE HOUSING AUTHORITY ADMINISTRATOR HERE HAS SAID IT WILL BE HARD TO ENFORCE.
________________________________________________________________________________________
i do not know how much longer i can take this kind of stress  :(

IT LOOKS TO ME LIKE YOU HAVE SOME CHOICES TO MAKE.  LIKE EVERYTHING IN LIFE THERE IS CAUSE AND AFFECT.
DO YOU HAVE $11 TO PAY THE LATE FEE?  EVEN IF YOU WEREN'T INFORMED OF THE CHANGE IN THE RENT DUE DATE IF YOU CAN PAY THE FEE WOULDN'T THAT RELIEVE SOME STRESS?

I GUESS I'M THE WORST KIND OF FORMER SMOKER.  I STARTED TRYING TO SMOKE PAPA'S UNFILTERED CAMELS WHILE STILL IN GRADE SCHOOL. THEN AT 15ys OLD IT WAS  MARLBORO'S UNTIL I WAS 21ys OLD AND PREGNANT.  THAT'S WHEN I QUIT AND HAD NO PROBLEM DOING SO.

I'M STILL A NON SMOKER.  MY BEST FRIENDS AND FAMILY MEMBERS SMOKE...THEIR CHOICE......NOT IN MY HOME, VEHICLE, OR UP WIND OF ME....MY CHOICE.

HAVE YOU EVEN BEEN TOLD YOU ARE BEING EVICTED?

IF NOT YOU MIGHT WANT TO LOOK AT THE CHOICES YOU HAVE FACING YOU.....PERHAPS IF YOU WANT TO MOVE YOU CAN FIGURE OUT A CALMER WAY TO DO SO WITH MAYBE A CHANCE TO LOOK AT ALL YOUR OPTIONS.

THIS IS JUST ME, I HAVEN'T SEEN A PACK OF CIGARETTES MADE THAT I'D PAY 5 BUCKS FOR.  I'M LUCKY AND GLAD I QUIT WHEN I DID.

I'M NOT DOWNING SMOKERS.....I  AM JUST NO LONGER ONE...OR SHOOTER...OR SKATER....OR POOL HUSTLER....OR CRAZY LADY....NO, WAIT UP ON THAT LAST ONE  :)

I DO HOPE YOU GET THINGS WORKED OUT TO SUIT YOU.   AND A DIFFERENT LIVING SITUATION IF THAT IS WHAT YOU NEED OR WANT.

Pat,

I've just watched THE DRs Show video.  It seemed like there was so many positive things being offered to help you.  What happened after the show?  Did everybody follow up on what they were supposed to do?

My personal and sincere advice,
Lean on your family, they may be poor and struggling, but they should be able to take you in. I cant imagine your Brother or Daughter wont take you into their house.
Stop smoking! It was mentioned many times on that Dr. show as something making your condition worse, and it is expensive. As another person mentioned, vaping is a great way to wean off the cigarettes.
Seriously cut out all carbohydrates and sugar from your diet, read up (or better YouTube) on **** and Paleo type diets, they are very good for losing weight and reducing inflammation, sugar is pure evil to our bodies.
Do some early morning or late evening walking. Exercise will help your mental and physical states, it really reduces stress.
There is some very inexpensive housing in Tucson ($350), and probably more social services here, something to consider. Your family, however, should be your first resource for help.

Once you are stable, save a bit every month for your dream of traveling, it might take 2 years to get a rig bought and setup but you will be better off for traveling.

I think you are not in the right space or health yet to full time travel. Work on improving yourself and get set up for traveling.

Modern medicine seems to be about treating the symptoms, but not so much into curing the problem. If you haven't tried a no sugar low carb diet, what do you have to lose by trying?

BTW there are some woman's shelters here in Tucson that will take you in, but family is much better. Good luck and best wishes to you

Pat, I think you're given these challenges to strengthen your spirit. Something has to come from you... My elderly mother quit smoking (4 years last March) after 60+ years because she had a choice of continuing and die/suffer. And honestly, had she continued smoking I don't think I would have been able to bear the suffering (I live with/care/help her). Her quality of life has been so much better and family continues to say how well she is doing and looking. Please consider making changes; you're the captain of your life and the compass needs a different direction.

The only help most of us can give is ideas and sounds like you have had some real professional help.

Did the diet change not help at all? That seems to be a big deal in treating this. Along with not smoking. I know diets are not cheap and hard to eat always the way you need to. Also that smoking is extremely hard to stop.
I have a brother that was a die hard smoker (60 + years) and spent way more money than he would admit on smokes. Finally though he started vaping. His apartment started smelling better and he had more money to eat and pay bills. Cost was next to nothing. Now a little over a year later after cutting down the nicotine bit by bit he doesn't even vape any more. Feels better and I think I mentioned he has more available cash.

BTW, my daughter has been dealing with psoriasis for a number of years and nothing helped until she got on Otezla. Now however, her insurance company won't let the manufacturer's assistance be used for co pay to make it affordable. So I know what you are dealing with.[/font]

The medications cost you mentioned make the Otezla look dirt cheap. Wow! Thank you for the wishes for my daughter, hopefully we can keep her meds supplied.
I would like to mention again about the vaping to help with the smoking. You can have the nicotine while you gradually cut down. Just a vapor and the smell is nothing. It is much cheaper and shouldn't get you evicted? Or is that covered under the smoking ban?

If you are thinking of living in a van you need to relocate to somewhere cooler. I'm in the Pacific Northwest and it's literally room temperature outside... 21C. Perfect!

There are two social service/feeding programs for the homeless in Cottonwood that **were** pretty good.  I do not recall details.  Going into a shelter and saving money is a good plan.  In Cottonwood you could probably figure out how to camp switching between the Coconino and the Prescott National Forests, but your health may not be up for it.  You will qualify for a priority placement on housing.

Be careful with the negative thoughts, you can make yourself sicker.  I've been there and done that.  You need to be realistic about your situation, but also realize there are a LOT of people that have gone or are going through, it.

Many helpful suggestions have been posted, I am always so proud to be a member of this community online.  I am adding another resource:  https://angieshouseaz.com/about-us/  It is in Cottonwood.  Many, if not most here, have learned that we have to make do with what we have for the moment and work toward the ultimate goal we have in mind.  Another resource if not already mentioned:  https://housing.az.gov/general-public/homeless-assistance

Hi Snow Gypsy
Thank you so much for your advice and links much appreciated
as for Angies House i would not go back there again if you paid me  ( LOL )
the last time i was in one of her houses there was Roaches in the bath tub
and the house was completely falling apart at the seams , i had to barrow
a 3 speed fan from a friend of mine just to circulate the air in the middle
of summer , she does not have any air conditioning in that house whatsoever
i will not go back to that hole and she charged people $600.00
per month per room , so if it was a 3 bedroom house she got $1,800.00 per month
from 1 house and that " Slum Lord " has several houses here in cottonwood , the
house i was in should of been bull dozed down , and i will look into the other link
again Thank you so much for your help

I would totally be down for hauling a camper and splitting gas monies. It would be an absolute win-win. given the notion we agreed where to go and stuff. Plus someone to be with my animals while I take some seasonal work.

If you are getting SSI, don't you have a case manager with social services? If so, that might be a person to talk with as to your housing situation.

Let me bold, are you asking for someone to loan you money to buy a van or are you wanting someone to give you a van to live in? I am just not sure where this is going.

I am not sure how much heat you can tolerate, especially in a van that is just set up with a bed. Have you done any planning beyond that step? You'll need to prepare meals, and so much more.

It seems a shelter or finding a different and affordable housing situation would do more to meet your immediate needs considering the heat of summer. Travel can be quite difficult in the heat, even driving a couple of hours. I have lived in southern AZ.

Hi Snow Gypsy
i would like to find a van that is big enough to make a bed in the back and that is road ready
i will be more than happy to make payments on it and if someone has a van that they would
like to donate that would be great to , and hopefully it will be an automatic
because i do not know how to drive the kind with a clutch lol
i will be going North till it gets cooler then i will be going South i would love to be in Quartzsite for the RTR
i have looked into those camping battery operated fans and am also looking into a buddy heater
as long as i am driving and the wind is hitting me and i find a shade tree when i go North i will be fine
i know it will be very tight for a few months but believe me it will be well worth it

Hello Pat,  I just read this thread again and all the posts with suggestions and links to places for possible help.

I never had internet until the end of 2015.  It amazes me how quick we can ask questions  and have them answered,  also finding sources for help for all kinds of things.  I think it's great!  :D

Have you had any luck when you contacted the links and places folks have posted here for you?   Or with the suggestions for a way to help you and your situation?

I hope you're able to find something that will suit you.  It may take a while so try not to get discouraged.

Stop smoking!

Great advice, stop smoking and cut the killer carbs/sugar.  If it's about $5 a pack, that's $150 per month you could save!  I quit smoking.  It wasn't easy, but got easier after about a month.  Everyone here is giving you awesome advice and links for help.  Now you have to help yourself. :) P.S. Can't you get food stamps?
