If you have a van, then have a toilet & shower in your van.

I KNOW my toilet and shower are sanitary, any others are suspect at best.

I live in my van when I'm on the road, and part of living is having your own facilities, where ever you choose to be.

Planet fitness are manned whenever they are open so u don't just have a key like Anytime Fitness.

I have belonged to both in the past and prefer Planet Fitness because there is no contract. I had to cancel my Anytime Fitness because I had to move for work and it was a nightmare experience. They allow u to cancel if it's 50 miles away from an AF facility...my new residence was literally 49.6 miles from one so they insisted that I could drive over an hour each way to go to the gym...really? So they got me for $175 cancellation fee. Never Again.

Just my own experience, your mileage may vary :)

The national plan (black card @ $20 a month) at Planet Fitness does require a 12 month contract, while the local plan ($10 a month) does not.

Yes, one of the problems with any contract is cancelling if you need too. There are so many Anytime Fitness centers that you would have a hard time finding a place that does not have one within 50 miles. Something seriously worth considering.

In your situation, I'd have just changed by credit card number so they could not bill me anymore, but then my credit rating means nothing too me.

Have been meaning to investigate those rechargeable credit cards. You run out of money and toss it. Not sure if they will work.

I think they are catching onto that actually. The PF here has stopped accepting credit cards as a form of payment. Checking account info required or no PF memberships... at least here.

Disposable checking accounts are easy to get. There are too many banks with a zero deposit required to open one.

Yea, you can do that once or twice before other banks will not give you an account. All banks share info on default clients. Usually, even if you have one bank default, the next bank will not open an account for you. Eventually, you end up having to pay those, so use care there.

Van tramp, I have the $20 membership at Planet Fitness but I DO NOT have a contract. I am month to month, so is my daughters membership. Maybe they've changed their policy? We just joined in March 2014.

Real banks follow federal banking regulations. You need to ID yourself. Why would you give your money to someone not following regulations?

It is true. If you screw a bank too many times, you will be on a national banking black list and you will have a hard time opening a bank account. I used to work for a major national bank and I've seen this happen to MANY people. No kidding. Absolutely true.

yes, the main blacklist is called chexsystems. a lot of banks have seen a market there tho, and issue 'second chance' accounts that have monthly fees and stricter limits for people in the system. My bank did this, but gave me standard after a year of being a good boy :D. Like credit, there is a drop off, its 5 yrs last i checked, which checks out with me getting a regular account at another bank later.

Bankruptcy gets you ten years of high interest credit cards. The year it pops off, you suddenly will get $10k credit cards as easy as getting a happy meal at McDonald's.

For those using PF:

http://www.usatoday.com/story/opini...-michigan-membership-revoked-column/70233530/

My 1st question to PF would be: How do you distinguish between a "transexual/transgender" (hormone therapy, breast implants, true feeling of being in the wrong body) and a "cross dresser" (a man thru and thru but gets his jollies dressing in women's clothing)??

Ladies--where would you draw the line? Still got 'hanging fruit', get out of my locker room? Had the surgery, no 'evident' male traits- ok to stay?
Men--moot point- I doubt there'd be a complaint if a woman in a three piece suit got naked in the men's locker room. :)

Second question for PF: If you feel it's OK to expose young female children to "Pre-ops with fruit still hangin" why have separate locker rooms at all?

Yeah, but make sure you NEVER lie about your income to get said "10k credit cards". It's easy to do and rarely do the Feds, banks or anyone come after you, but this is technically, a felony at the Federal level. If someone wanted to get you, but they don't have anything...this may be a way for them. Also, if you load up a bunch of cards and don't pay, they may get you on this felony also if they're pissed enough.

This is a valid question, but any posts with even the slightest hint of gay-bashing will be deleted.

Bankruptcy, credit, and credit cards are off-topic. It's worth talking about so lets give it it's own thread. Just not here.

I just opened a planet fitness membership, black card. The cost is technically $21.39 every month because they pro-rate an initiation fee of $19.99 over the year. There's also a fee in June of every year of around $40 from what I understand. The plan is on a yearly contract and requires a $58 buyout to cancel. $10 is charged extra on a monthly basis for every payment request that is not collected/returned as noncollectable. Overall I know other people probably got a better deal but I'm not exactly disappointed about it or anything. $21.39 a month for a place to work out and shower is worth it in my humble opinion.

Bring your flip flip shower shoes. And watch for fungus

I worked at my local PF for 7 months last year when I was holding station, and I would not worry about fungus in those showers. Yes, having some flip-flops is a good thing, but they bleach down those showers every single day. All the PFs I have been too are extremely clean. If you are really afraid of it, go to the gym first thing in the morning. Their custodial staff works from 10pm to 6am, so the bathrooms are at their cleanest at that time.
