I'm currently at the RTR and was really pleased to see that there was good Sprint coverage.  I've had Sprint for years and have had the 'old' unlimited data plan.  This had performed wonderfully - enough to support my working years as a software developer for IBM using about 150GB per month.  Unfortunately I quickly discovered that an automatic update to FoxFi Key had broken my PDA.net setup.  This upset me because my backup is to use a Verizon jetPack which is really expensive...

I finally figured out what needed to be done to get things working again so am passing this on.

I have a android G6.  The upgraded version of FoxFi was 5.10.7.  It was updated in December.  PDA.net used to be embedded inside of FoxFi, but now the PDA.net software is a separate distribution.  If you have Sprint (and possibly ATT) you will need to do an install outside of the playStore.  To do this you must first disable blocking of the installs outside of the playStore.  This is done by 1) going into the phone settings. 2) going into "Fingerprints & security", 3) in the "Phone Administration" turning on "Unknown sources".  Then exit out of phone settings.  This will enable your phone to be able to install directly from the web.  Once the install has been done, you will want to turn off "Unknown sources".

Now open the crome tool on your android phone and execute http://pdanet.co/install.  When that web page opens, click on "Download Android apk file directly".  This will download the PDA.net app onto your cell phone.  Install the app and you should have a new PDAnet app.  When you open that app, you will be able to activate PDA.net USB.

Finally be sure to turn off "Unknown sources" on your cell.

This has worked well for me and I am now able to use my cell once again as my internet modem.  YEA!!!!

Good to hear you got it working again. Do you use it because you are not allowed a hotspot on your phone? They do have ways of detecting it now if so.

A very old grandfathered contract that allowed direct tethering.
