Passport?

I have an odd question.  July 11, 2018 I applied at a local post office in the afternoon for my first passport.  It was issued just 9 days later, on July 20, 2018.  Are they normally that fast?  
It came in today's mail and also my birth certificate came in a separate envelope today.  I had been told that would come few weeks after my passport arrived.  Has anyone else gotten their's so fast?  Just wondering.

Nope, it took mine nearly 3 months

I got mine in two weeks, and that was in Thailand!

Never was without one, old days they just added the baby to the parent's

Run time is averaging about 2 weeks last I heard! They always quote you worst case, but mostly do better!

Mine took about 2 weeks to arrive.

Just shy of two weeks for my renewal last spring.

There was a huge backlog after 9/11 when they suddenly required passports for more things. So maybe they learned how to streamline and speed up the process.
