Does anyone have any info on a cheap place in or near Pahrump with hookups where we can get a week rate??

We were planning to stay in Amargosa Valley, but there aren't any real grocery stores there and have to go to Pahrump to stock up...might as well stay there if possible.

Any assistance is greatly appreciated.

Hi, I have had friends stay at Saddle West which is right on highway 160 in Pahrump. They didn't tell me how much it was, but they seemed to think it was reasonable. It's a nice looking RV park.
PS, Saddle West usually has a decent buffet.
In Amargosa there is a mobile home park on the left if you're going South, and just a short way before Longstreet casino on the right, which by the way also has a small RV park.
Good luck, and let us know how it goes.
-Bruce

Called Saddle West and they are a tad pricey at $158/wk.
Longstreet in Amargosa gave us a rate of $89/wk. We'll look for the other one you mentioned.
Thanks for the info.

If someone in Pahrump has a driveway space for a few days we'd be be willing to pay a reasonable amount for parking also.
We're not picky, are quiet and self contained. Just need to do some shopping to restock groceries and such before heading north.

PM if you prefer. Thanks.

Lakeside in pahrump used to accept pasport america for 1/2 off, I don't know if they still do since they are no longer Terribles, and that usually doesn't apply for weekly. The golden nugget allows free dry camping.

Yup, we spotted the Nugget casino next to Smiths. We're at Walmart now, so I guess we'll stay here tonight.
There's no laws against boondocking in parking lots in Pahrump as long as the business doesn't mind, so we're covered till we move on to Amagosa.

Drove up the street to Napa auto parts and spotted an RV we knew in the lot at the Gold Town casino. Had a nice visit.
Also found that we could get a strong wifi signal from Prefered RV park at the back of the casino lot :)

Sounds like you guys are off to a good start.
-Bruce

Wow, Pahrump has grown! A Walmart in Pahrump! When I first went to Pahrump it had a couple of casinos and many mom and pop businesses. Almost bought property there years ago but didn't want to drive to Las Vegas every day to work, a lot of head on collisions on the highway back then.

Haven't been here in years, surprised me as I rolled into town. Lots of buildings that look fairly new. Walmart is a 24 hr superstore in a big center that has an Albertsons, a few fast food joints and several other businesses. The casinos are pretty large and several of those too. You can find about anything money will buy here...well, except the one thing I'd really like to have ;-)

Pahrump is my home base and it has a ton of free dispersed camping. Just drive out Basin road and you will see a dozen rigs parked out in the desert. Here is a map to places I have dispersed camped for the entire winter. It is less than 3 miles to the front door of the walmart and beautiful right now. In late April the desert is in bloom and the Desert Tortoise are out and very active. Don't stay in a parking lot when you could be out in a truly magical place.

class="bbc_img">

I'm not there now. As much as I love Pahrump the weather there can be very bad all winter so I don't stay there anymore. My mail forwarder is there and I am a legal resident, but it is no longer home.

If you are driving north, my suggested route is to drive straight across from Pahrump to Death Valley and then on over to Lone Pine, CA. The Alabama hills are there and one of my favorite places anywhere, it's gorgeous. Then take 395 north to Lake Tahoe. The drive along 395 is fabulous, one of my favorites in the country!
Bob

We drove on out and the views will have me taking photos in the morning.
Pulled a short way (in a class A rig) and a little woman walked across the desert to inform us that things had changed since 6 months ago...no longer good for camping. We told her we were spending 1 night, "Ok, I'm the caretaker", she replied.
I see a tent about 300 yards away and a few rigs scattered here and there.
Wow, the lights of Pahrump are much more wide spread than I ever have seen.

We're headed to to Amargosa Sunday and up to Tonopah next week, then Winnemucca before crossing into Oregon. Taking our time to let nights warm a bit as we move north.

Thanks for the tip...it is nice and quiet out here, and dark too. Should sleep very well :)

The nights here in northern NV are still getting down to freezing temps, nights should be in 40's in May.
The high desert can be cold most of the year. Nights in the summer are usually in 50's. Tonopah is at 6000 ft so it will be cool there also. Had cloud cover and rain last night in Carlin NV so it was warmer than usual.

Just thought I'd drop back into this thread to say Hi, and check on your progress. I imagine you guys have headed north a while ago, but wanted to hear more about your stay.
-Bruce
