Years ago I found a 230w panel on craigslist for $50 and so started my solar adventure. I mated it with this little controller. http://www.eco-worthy.com/catalog/worthy-mppt-solar-charge-controller-12v24v-p-182.html
I believe this is a newer version that can be picked up for $85 shipped off of a ebay auction. http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-20A-MPP...-Controller-/281790976773?hash=item419c0d1305
It has more features than the original. That controller and 230w panel became popular for the low cost, ease and dependability. The combo easily handled our trailer and with a decent bank and inverter could have done limited big loads like a microwave. Tracking it is good for over 16a , flat 14a.
