Hi there! One old man here (67-retired on SS) with his also single Tomcat (or is that 2 Old Tomcats!). Currently I am living..barely...here in OK and I'm looking for a better (and cheaper or as cheap) way of living. I have camped a lot when younger and retired a few years ago from Over the Road Truck Driver so I am fairly familiar with living a nomadic lifestyle in a small space. Would love to become a bit nomadic (not as much as sleeping in a different state every nite!) and live cheap & enjoying life rather than set where I am and basically wither away broke and bored....broke and having fun and enjoying life sounds way better to me..

My problem is finding an inexpensive RV of some type and due to poor credit some way to finance one.........it needs to be fairly inexpensive to purchase, in reasonable shape (bit if a handy man here, ex Truck Driver and ex Electronic Tech) and 1/2 ton towable, liveable and no leaks.

I have been checking out many locations and sites and am very interested in the Quartzite area but open to NM area's also, my main consideration is a warm winter and the ability to move to cooler area's in the summer of course and above all cheap living (as much as that is possible of course). Living on the road can be very costly if done wrong, but can also be cheap if done right.

I'm open to input and suggestions on type RV, where to find them, good locations to dry camp comfortably and really cheap places to camp, etc....Since I am single I'm also open to partnering up with a sane frugal adventurous female companion if there are any that are open to that situation (Any good looking widow women out there?..LOL)....This older wannabe Hippy (60's model) is pretty flexible on MOST things. I drink very little (I do like a cold beer on occasion), never done drugs and no longer smoke cigs.....yea boring I know (but don't count on it as I DO enjoy lots of off the wall things, very open to lots of other fun things!)

That's pretty much all I can think of at the moment I'll wait and respond to replies and go from there!

If you have an 8 foot bed you may want to look at a cap for the back. I've seen many nice set-ups that way. That will get you on the road cheap, and then look for a cargo trailer and convert it.

Thats the rub.................6 1/2 SWB is all I have (Ford F-150 4x4, 4.6L)..........be kinda restricted that way.......Was looking at some smaller TT's for that reason.........

As far as cost even IF I had an 8 ft bed the cost of the slide in campers is as expensive as a medium sized TT..........Truck covers (even if an 8ft bed) aren't exactly cheap either....

Been looking on line for Bed Caps but not finding many even new, must not be in vogue anymore................it was back in my younger camping days as that was one of the best options back then....tent camping kinda sucks...................

LOL and where would I put my 55" Flat Screen!!!
