I'm currently using a Mr. Heater Buddy unit in my uninsulated van, here in southern ME during the winter. It is set up freestanding in a corner, connected to a 20lb propane tank which lives in the van with me, unvented, strapped to the rear door and side shelving with a ratcheting tie down. Hose and filter connecting the two.
I do not full-time in the van, only sleep in it at the moment. As a result, I only run the Buddy for about 20 minutes before bed and when waking up to take the chill off. Otherwise, it is not running through the night, although I have done that before and not died. I also have a CO detector in the van with me.
Works for me. Now what is this about the Mr. Heater Buddy not being a catalytic heater...?
I also picked up an Olymian Wave 3 off a friend in need at a decent price, NIB. But that will wait with a bunch of other material for a complete buildout toward full-timing sometime in the Spring/Summer timeframe. No experience with it, and since I've been plenty happy with the Buddy heater, no urge to set it up before I figure out where it will be permanently mounted.
