Odd things going on with my solar system...

Maybe I'm not being fair, but IMO Renogy is a good source for panels only. And even then only if you are sticking to (other) PWM controllers.

Buying a "kit" really isn't good value, nor necessary when you can so easily learn the basics and get good advice on forums and the web.

John, I agree that the kits may not be the best deals out there but that's the price you pay for NOT getting the education readily available on the web and in forums. At least the components are matched up well enough to not fry the first time it is put to use. Oddly learning enough to even know what kit to buy is just a step away from knowing how to put the parts together that best suit your needs.

Sadly, we digress... The main issues in post one of this thread really have nadda to do with kits or lack of knowledge...

I am interested in your ideas as to what may be causing the issues.

AND, best news so far, the lights have stayed off for several days now... Who knows, maybe it was gremlins, LOL!!!

Oh it was....I snuck in a few days ago and hung a gremlin bell under there...the little *******s are gone.

You're welcome!

:D

I thought the final upshot was that nothing is wrong.

If that is not the case, sorry, I thought I was being clear, I am of the opinion that your controller sucks.

You seem certain you have configured its settings properly. You have had an unhelpful session with their (un)technical support, so presumably its not just broken.

Therefore IMO it should be replaced with a better quality unit, I recommend Victron 75/15, ~$100.

But if you're saying you still have significant issues, do please (re-)state what those are.

No one has mentioned a "reboot" by removing the battery leads from the controller. Longshot? Maybe. But nonetheless.
My Renogy Rover 20a and 2- 100 watt panel system works perfectly. I did have one glitch that was human error with having the fridge on the Load outputs so I can view daily Ah readings. I was causing an Error code due to cheap 12v cig plug and after a few times it didn't want to clear. Renogy tech support said to remove the battery leads and the system will reboot. YMMV

Yeah, I'm hip to that. That's why its a long shot.
Then there's also the caveat from Renogy about having the battery wired in before the panels get wired in. This would stand true during batt maintenance or wiring changes/additions. I have a switch between the panels and the controller and before I do any battery / wiring work, the panels are disconnected. It would be an easy thing to overlook .
Anyway, prolly talking out my arse here.

Renogy says that the LOAD icon is indicating the circuit status, but since there is no actual load there, it a "never mind" kinda thing...
So, I guess I can ignore the icon status. whatever its indicating, there is no actual power loss or power usage.
...
I also asked if I should adjust the voltages for adsorb, boost, and float should be tweaked if needed.

Glad to hear the lights are off.  :)

I think what he meant by "corruption" is it is possible to put in numbers that the system will reject .  Float > Absorption, for example, will cause a SAVE FAILED message or similar.
