Because I can set the bulb where I want to and it will be set as close to me as possible (cord is short but I can direct the light right to where Im lying). . And it will be VERY bright. Maybe a shade of some sought? &nbsp;But I can know when something is very close to my van at night. Where Im parking there should be no one there unless 1. your a cop or 2. your a prowler.&nbsp;</div>

I think this is a 110 volt sensor, can you not find a 12 volt sensor?&nbsp;<div>The 110 might drain your battery every night!</div>

Ok didnt read it right (nor did I look at the pic to well!). I didn't realize you needed to put the bulb in a socket LOL duh! Thanks for pointing that out before I bought it! Back to the drawing board.<div><br></div><div>Im thinking the best way to go is those stick on types that you use around the house. Might work for me if I put them in the right places. Something like this</div><div><a href="http://www.amazon.com/Mr-Beams-MB-9...3?ie=UTF8&amp;qid=1323726416&amp;sr=8-3-spell" target="_blank">http://www.amazon.com/Mr-Beams-MB-9...3?ie=UTF8&amp;qid=1323726416&amp;sr=8-3-spell</a></div><div><br></div><div>Put it in the a spot that will work for me. I would have to test it but I think it might work.</div>

I would go to a large RV centre or a large Truck stop and see what they have sitting on the shelf, personally.&nbsp;<div><br></div><div>Now thinking on it, there was a YouTube video I saw of some guy who had his vehicle wired so that if anyone touched it, there was a buzzer going off inside. You could change the buzzer to light easy enough I think. Do a search on YouTube and see what you can see.</div>

LOL I think that would take me all night to find. But I will look . Thanks

google them..<div>there only a few really large truck stops, chains in the US and less in Canada.</div><div>do the same for the RV dealership, just google and go to the largest. Some also have products listed on their website.</div><div>good luck and it is not as hard as you think, me thinks</div>

<div><br></div><div>No I meant the you tube guy with the alarm &nbsp;thing. That would take all night and maybe all week. LOL Theres an RV rental place right in town. I wanted to go there just to look around. &nbsp;</div>

Wireless. 12v</a> </b>uses 3 C batteries which last months.<br>It DOES trigger thru a window, tarp or screen.<br>Set it down, screw it up, or glue a magnet under it and mag it.<br>I have three of these and they're great. Broze is the cheapest color.<br><b><a target="_blank" href="http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002Q6XWAQ/ref=oh_o06_s00_i02_details"><br>Motion Detector. Portable. When broken, it sends a signal to the receiver which beeps loudly (recommend shoving receiver under a towel or blanket. It can wake the dead). Only the receiver sounds off, the transmitter outside is silent. <br>Once again, set it on something, screw it to something or glue a magnet and mag it to your vehicle.<br><b><a target="_blank" href="http://www.amazon.com/Strobe-Motion...=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&amp;qid=1323799480&amp;sr=8-2"><br>Area Motion Detector Alarm. Not to be used with 'Alarm' in cities, parking lots, etc, you'd have to use the 'Chime' setting.<br>I set mine on the ground, each side of my truck, on Alarm, &amp; it keeps cats and dogs from p*ssing all over my tires and rims.<br>Or I use them to protect my campsite from 'opportunistic shoppers'.<br><br><br>

I like the 1st one the best. The other 2 I don't know if I&nbsp;could&nbsp;hear it anyway. My purpose was just so if a cop &nbsp;was trying to knock on the door or saying for me to open up. I need to know they are there. Seems it will be good for other reasons too. Thanks that was a big help.<div><br></div><div><br></div><div><br></div><div><br></div><div><br></div><div><br></div><div><br></div><div><br></div><div><br></div>

If you hear someone outside your ride press the panic button on your key fob.<div>This year I am installing 3 exterior LED RV lights to the outside of my cap. One on each side and one at the rear. I'll have 3 switches inside. These are not wireless. If I hear something I can just turn on the lights. Also makes great lighting when camping. LED take up very little power and you can get 12 volt ones.</div>

<div><br></div><div>Johnny&nbsp;I'm hard of hearing. Wear 2 aids..hence that is why I need the motion&nbsp;detector. If a cop came up to the van I have no way to hear him/her if they are outside the door.</div>

I have two hearing aids also. Can't hear a thing at night. What can be done is use the 110 volt motion detector and plug it into a&nbsp;rechargeable power pack (solar panel). It should use very little Go to your&nbsp;audiologist and find out what pitch you can hear and get an alarm at that pitch. He/she can order one. Place this alarm near your head on the wall. Should work.&nbsp;

That sounds good really Johnny but if I'm trying to be stealth in a apt. complex won't that be kind of noisy? Also I don't depend on my hearing at all at night. Very used to light. Could I use some sort of light instead or would that take up a lot of power? Thanks Johnny your very helpful.&nbsp;<img border="0" align="absmiddle" src="https://vanlivingforum.com/images/boards/smilies/smile.gif">

Oh I have one I use as a alarm clock. They work good for me. That might work. I'll see what I can do for that.&nbsp;
