Anybody have experience with the Nissan vans? I'm considering one for my new home. They have near vertical side walls and seem very well built (in Mississippi!)

Well, I bought it. 2012, v8, 22k miles, cargo van, no frills, great angle of departure, (for those non dreamy eyed folks who want to traverse fire roads.)Built on the Titan platform. Purposely designed for trades. Check them out online? I may wish I'd waited for the high roof, but I believe higher powers directed me to this machine at a great price to get me on the road! Soon, in will go the accoutrements required for green creature comforts; solar, batteries, kitchen, loo, electronics, etc. See ya out there?

Lucky you! Pics or it never happened!!!

I don't know how to post a pic as I'm new to this whole forum thing. It's hard to interpret your meaning (cyndi) from your comment. I take it as you calling me a liar or you "rejecting my reality and substituting your own". At any rate, I'm very excited about getting started and wish you well in your endeavors. I'll not reply again about my van. Take care, be well.

Oh, my, goodtraveler! I like the way they made this one already. It has a front-end like a car/truck instead of the "van-type" enclosed inside the vehicle. This should make it easy to work on the engine. I hope the mileage is great on this. Do share specs and inside views....let us know what kind of fuel economy you get. And thanks for sharing with us!

Nice looking van goodtraveler! Keep us updated on your progress with some more pics. I've just about got mine finished and love to see what others have done to theirs. <img class="emoticon bbc_img" src="/images/boards/smilies/smile.gif">

I'm going to look at a Nissan NV 2500 and a Ford Transit tomorrow. Not buying for at least a year, but am very interested in scoping them out. I'll make pictures of both and post some!

Considering the ridiculous fuel waste of full size vans, especially the Nissan, (my brother in law has one for his plumbing business, actually gets worse MPG than the old school Ford/Chevy vans) the smaller 2500 and Transit seem pretty great. Four cylinders for the win. I decided against them because easy access to the cargo area direct from the driver's seat is extremely important to me.

The Transit is a full-size van. The Transit Connect is a totally separate vehicle and much smaller.

If you are looking for a van dwelling, you NEED the full-size van space, as do many tradespeople. It's not a waste if you have the space for a reason, not just to look like you need it.

I know. That's why I was pointing out the advantages of the smaller size and better fuel economy.

I didn't say the space was a waste, I said the vehicles are needlessly fuel guzzling. And they are. Smaller diesel engines, such as found in European models, provide adequate power and much better economy. In the US, we demand more power, more towing capacity, etc etc, and so an efficient engine is less of a priority. Which is easy to understand when you consider our fuel costs less than half as much as theirs. Even the diesel they are putting in the new transit vans for the US market is larger and less efficient than needs be. The Euro Transit vans (full size vans) usually come with 2.2 or 2.4 4 cylinder diesel engines. The only diesel we'll be offered Stateside is a 3.2 5 cylinder, which of course burns more fuel. That's what frustrates me.

And, speaking as someone who lived under a canopy in the back of a ford ranger for the better part of two years, I do appreciate space. Its not a NEED. But it sure is nice. A full size van is pure luxury to me, but I'm taking my time in the design phase.

To be honest, the only experience I had was test driving it. Not really a fan to be honest.

I did almost buy the NV200 for how spacious it is though.
