I thought I read once that a spot in Maine was the most remote of the lower 48. Seemed hard to believe it could out remote some areas out west. But it may have just been the way they calculated it, I think it was the distance from the nearest road or something along those lines. At any rate, the North Woods in Maine are still a no man's land and quite peaceful. One of the best places on the East coast IMO.
