I just got it and need to get some essential supplies, such as bedding. It's a little overwhelming at this point.

If you and your wife wonder about the population density I spoke of (east & west of the Mississippi River) let me offer you this graphic image of the USA that was taken from a satellite during the night time.

In some states it is allowed to two two trailers......"a triple" if you would want to do this.

When I've traveled in the west I've seen this numerous times.

For bedding you have lots of options we just started out using multi foam toppers and encasing them in cheap sleeping bags cut to the size and shape we wanted. Liked them so well after 20 some years still doing it. There are custom mattress manufacturers.

Thank you, Bullfrog. I went shopping yesterday and saw inflatable mattresses. That also seems like a good option.

Inflatable mattresses are not a great option. The standard ones can get cool under you from the air currents. Walmart has a blue closed cell foam pad for $11 last time I looked. Being closed cell it is warmer. Being about an inch in thickness it is not probably as much padding as you will want, so add on as necessary.

I've used inflatable mattresses a lot (in sticks&bricks). They don't last forever. When they do spring a leak, it's very hard (IMO) to find it and fix it. A lot of brands have a disclaimer that they're not meant for everyday/long-term use. So if you do go that route, I'd be careful and do a lot of research first.
Another thought: for me, in a house or apartment with a dedicated bedroom, it was easy to keep sharp or too-heavy objects away from the thing. In a vehicle, where it's more crowded and every space has multiple uses, I wonder if it would be too fragile (and maybe too bulky).
Just some things to consider. I find them pretty comfortable, fwiw.

^^^ Bob Wells recommended only one hybrid self inflating adjustable Thermorest mattress. We used and liked them but my granddaughters like them better, in fact that is practically all they have ever slept on for over 5 years, so pretty durable but expensive in my opinion.

Great advice. I have seen comments about foam before and it makes sense. Walmart offers a bargain. Thanks much,
